Now that I am a newly employed member of society, I'm going to start interviewing photogs. I have a smallish list of photogs that I like.

First, let me tell you a bit about my personality and the roles I want to play (since I don't think I've ever made that clear on this board) and maybe you all can give your suggestions.

My real every day personality resembles a lot of Amanda Bynes' characters. I'm goofy, playful, fun, energetic. I mean, I am a Disney/Nickelodeon type. Young, LegalTPY, etc.

I have a problem with photogs shooting in such a way that I actually look much older than I do in person. And I'm not just saying that. People are always shocked to hear my real age (they always guess 4-8 yrs lower), but photogs seem to capture my real age, which kinda stinks. It's a problem. So i think I need to go with someone who does kids and teens a lot too. My last headshots I posted here, it was suggested I could play "young mommy" types. hehe Not when you see me in person! I get laughed out of auditions for roles that are older than early 20s. i could play a teen mommy for sure, but not a real age mommy!

However, my flip side- I'm a Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) kinda bookworm, and want to go after the kinds of roles that Kristen Stewart has been doing (the intense films, like Panic Room, The Messengers, Twilight).

That said- I need a photog who can capture that clean energetic Disney/Nick look as well as the more serious side.

Most photogs work doesn't have that energy, that spark, that I want created in my shot. I always end up with just a pretty smiling picture.

That said- What do you all think of these guys? I can't meet with them all, but was thinking maybe you all would have some opinions. A couple have been discussed on the forum, but felt they were worth mentioning in my list since they're on it.

Any feedback?

A while ago, a male member of the board (I can't remember who it was now) posted some awesome shots that everyone loved. A white guy, maybe late 20s to mid-30s. i can't find his post to find out who he shot with. I wanna say it was poyey, but i can't find the thread now. if you can find it and point me to it, i want to add that photog to the list as well.

I'm at work so taking a REALLY quick look-through some of these galleries. So far I'm afraid to say I'm not loving any of them. Frowner (this is just judging what's on their websites, obviously)

Calas - I think he is one of the ones who would make you look too old/overly glamorized.

PhotosLA - hard to tell from the site, I'll try to take a 2nd look

Blake Gardner - too character-y for your purposes

Michael D'Ambrosia - does he do the heads getting cut off at the top thing??

Buckman - REALLY cheesy

and not loving the other 3 on first glance, either

Just my opinion of course. Will try to take a 2nd look.

edited to add: Kevin McIntyre might be okay, just wish there were more headshots examples on the site.

Kelsey Edwards I just don't find terribly exciting, all the pictures look the same. Very very commercial, but nothing interesting or nothing that leaps out at me.

My roomate worked with Kelsey.
She's been using those photos for years and has never been in a city longer than a month without landing an agent.

With that said, I tried to contact Kelsey to work with me, and she never responded so I booked with someone else.
I don't pay people who won't give the time of day.

It's not so much the roles that YOU WANT to play but it's how the agents and CDs see you. They might not see you the way you see yourself. I think before doing the shots, you want to meet with as many agents/CDs to see how they would market you.

Actually I can see you play playing some of those roles you're interested in by looking at some your headshots that you posted before.

These ones look pretty good.:

Vanie Poyey did a great job with that White guy (I remember that post). She's the one whose advertisement features the guy eating his tie in the Backstage ads.

I almost mistook Vanie's work with Peter Konerko's.

Photos LA is Bradford Rogne and he is excellent. You'll be in good hands there. Technically, he does everything right. No chopping off heads etc.

Those are nice but I see what she means about how maybe those are making her look a bit older than she appears IRL. If she has more of a teen look IRL, there are some relatively easy ways to achieve that in a headshot. Hairstyle and clothing choices have a lot to do with it. Could be she needs a slightly trendier 'do (more so than in those pictures) and also some clothing choices that read "teen" more than "twenties."
