this has been frustrating trying to pick out of all these two pages. I desperately need your help
http://kmh.no-ip.biz:8888/caycepeters/index.htm

if this link doesn't work for you go to
kevynmajorhoward.com then view your shoot in the bottom right and type in cayce peters and then click on link.
I am looking for 4 looks: young college/teen girl next door, commercial, nerdy, you know...
I can't express how grateful I am for your help.

I'm NOT a fan of KMH. Same silly poses, cutting too much of the top part of the head, and bad lighting.

DON'T USE:
-The ones where you're wearing the shiny black leather jacket. It doesn't fit any of those categories you're looking for. If you wanted a dominatrix look, then go ahead.
-Nix all of those prop ones. You don't use props in headshots! NEVER!
-Any of the ones where most of the top part of your head is chopped off. CDs and Agents want to see most of you. They can forgive a little of your head being chopped off.
-Any of the ones where you face forward but your body is contorted. It's not natural. Headshots are supposed to be natural, not posed. You might be able to use those contorted ones for print, but not headshtos.

thank you yes one of the looks is Matrix style. Good comments...do you have any that you would pick? note: if you pass your mouse pointer over the picture it will give you the number. That would help...

Here are some of the bad examples that I speak of:
CONTORTED POSE
# 111KMH6_03289

Too much of the top part of your head of chopped off. Also, this cropping doesn't allow the Agent or CD to fully judge your look.
# 111KMH6_02898

Bad Lighting, Props, and that Leather Jacket.
I'd love to get arrested by a cop that dressed like this!

Of what's possibly salvageable of KMH:
-11111KMH6_02875
-11111KMH6_03816

I did my best to be fair and honest.

You're absolutely gorgeous, but Kevyn failed you as far as I'm concerned. He has you in all of these unflattering poses ie. twisting your body, slouching, and looking over a shoulder. Either reshoot or get your money back and find a better photographer for half the ridiculous price that he charges.

Also, don't use any of the photos that are cropped landscape.

When you post pics on LA Casting or any casting site, those pics are submitted as tiny thumbnails to the casting directors. When a landscape style photo is submitted, it's even more small and thus more difficult for the CD to notice and pick out.

I think my fave is 111KMG6_02365. (horizontal shot) It's one of the ones in the light blue top. Now my background is more in the music end of the theatrical spectrum, so I'm not sure what looks are best for the other genres in the biz, but this one just seems to present a nice all around good picture of you. You look nice, approachable, pretty, and your hair looks good.

I also liked 111KMG6_02326. You look very sweet and innocent.

As far as the glasses look, I liked 111KMH6_02883 the best. Very pretty shot.

111KMH6_02883 is cropped too close and too much of the top part of her head is chopped off. It's so closely cropped that it doesn't tell me much about her and her look.

I honestly don't think any of these shots are right. Get your money back and find a new photographer.

I went to a seminar featuring some top CDs and agents in L.A. They mentioned Kevyn Major Howard and to avoid him. They know if you shot with him and will usually disregard his work. He sneaks his signature within your photo, usually at the bottom right hand corner. If you try to remove his signature from your headshot, he can sue you.

Their reasons to avoid him:
-They showed pictures that had poor lighting and coloring. The reproduction company that KMH works with said it was KMH's fault. KMH said it was the reproduction company's fault. Based on YOUR photos, it's KMH's fault.

-He cuts off people's foreheads in a lot of his headshot photos. You can take out part of the top of someone's head when doing a headshot but not to the extent where it's cropped only at the browline. Yes, eyes are important but you have to be able to see most of the person's head in a headshot. What if the subject has a receding hairline and the Casting Directors bring him in assuming he has a full head of hair on something that calls for a guy with a full head of hair?

-He tells people to make dumb poses that can't get taken seriously.

-He's overpriced! There are people in L.A. that charge $250 and do a much better job with than he does. There is no correlation between high price and high quality. There are pleny of high priced photographers that have no business being in the business like KEVYN MAJOR HOWARD!

How does a pearl necklace, a medieval sword, and a dominatrix style outfit figure together or even the police badge and revolver with the same outfit?

I like this one:
1111KMH6_02415.jpg
For sweet young college student, but any in the light blue top would work well in the same cateogory.I wouldn't use theones with the badge or sword or beanie, as its a too literal interpretation. But some of the ones in the bleck jacket can be used to convey the same toughness.
Anyway, I don't think you have to rush to reshoot immediately, as there is plenty in here that's usable. I wouldn't leave his sig in the corner though. That's highly unusual. Will he let you remove it?
I like this one:
111KMH6_02903.jpg
For the lawyer-type, and this one: 11111KMH6_04048.jpg
for the tougher but still pretty type.

And there's definitely stuff in here that's perfectly usable. Choose a few and then focus on getting his name off the corner. . . there's got to be a way, even if it's putting an embossed sticker w/YOUR name on it over his.
Don't stress too much about the ones that aren't usable. Everybody gets a photographer that's not the best at some point, and I doubt there's a single person in this forum that hasn't. You should be happy that you managed to still take beautfiful photos that will be perfectly acceptable regardless of who's behind the camera.

Best of luck girl!

Goodness.
After all the negative posts here about Kevyn Major Howard and his extensive use of shills, phony usernames, etc. to hawk his work, its surprising that anyone reading these threads would ever use himFrowner
Did I mention his over the top price? Give me a break!!
