Hi Everyone!
I'm looking to land a commercial agent, and would like some feedback about my headshots.
They weren't originally taken with "commercial" in mind, but looking at them now I thought they are usable?
Please let me know your thoughts and opinions!

Thanks so much!

#2 seems more like a theatrical shot to me.

I like the energy you have in #1... and it could be very usable. But I also think you have more to offer the camera than what's captured here.

I agree. For commercial photos, they like to see teeth. (Big, open smile)

I agree. I'm not sure about #1. The smile is fine, but the pose is a little...off...? I'm not sure about only one arm and one shoulder showing, it seems a little distracting to me somehow. Curious to see what others think.

I agree that the first shot is the better 'commercial' shot; it has a really nice, warm energy about it and I like the composition.

It might just be the small file size you posted, but the photos both seem slightly out of focus to me. If a larger file looks good to you, then ignore this - it was just the small images you posted.

Best of luck!

Your headshots aren't very good. They look like they were taken by a friend with a less-than-$200 casual digital camera. Your head is tilted at weird angles in both pics.

You need to go to Reproductions.com and go through the photographers' books. Find photographers that do a damn good job at taking photos of people like you. And what I mean by that is hair color, skin tone, eye color, age range, ethnicity, physical structure, etc. Pick your 5 and meet with ALL of them to get their philosophies and personality. In LA, good photographers range from $250-500. Anything above $500 is for a competent name photographer like Robert Kim or some overpriced quack like Kevyn Major Howard.

Yeah, I felt that they weren't that amazing either. Do you think they're acceptable to send out while I'm in the process of getting new pictures taken?...or should I just wait for the new, improved ones?

And thanks for the opinions everyone!

Never ever settle. Wait it out for new ones.

WAIT till you have better ones. Why give someone something that isn't your best?

This is good advice!

You are very attractive. Get shots that reflect your beauty!

Big vibrant colors help for commercials. The white shirt is a little bland I think.

#1 is commercial, #2 definitely is not. But I don't like them. I HATE the background. It's just dull and muddy and looks even worse against your bright white shirt.

I would wait for the new shots. Everything is digital now, you could have prints ready to go out 2 days after the photo shoot. Why waste the postage? I doubt you'd get anywhere with these pics.
