I'm looking around and asking around. It's really time for me to get new headshots...I'm wondering if anyone knows of particularly great photographers with good deals right now. I'm thinking my budget is around $450 tops, but I find the photographers I like cost more than that. Thanks for the input!

I had a great experience with Dennis Kwan - I'm in LA but I know he works in NY as well. His package is $450 for four looks I believe, so that's at the top of your budget but I think you'd be getting some bang for your buck. His website is dkheadshots.com

A friend just recommended Karol DuClos Photography. He got great shots with a lot of range and wonderful shoot. I really had a good conversation with her, and I looked through her portfolios and really love her work.
Her rates are very good and she's offering a great discount now--I'll be able to get the shoot I want for $300. (!) The site says the discount is through the end of November, for anyone else who's looking. www.karolduclos.com I love how strong the eyes are in her headshots, and the actors come across naturally and as very dimensional and expressive. The uniqueness of each actor is very striking in her images, which is very important I think, so I'm booking with her--and really looking forward to the shoot! |

I kind of noticed that all the headshots of her webiste (I scanned through about 25) all have the same expression on the actors face (just staring at the camera blankly), nearly the same background and are all very similarly posed. She doesn't seem to mix it up to much or maybe that's just me. Just an observation.Please never be swayed because someone is a litltle cheaper. Just like the most expensive isn't the best either. Go with what you really, really want. If that's who you want- great. But don't do it to save a couple of bucks if you know what I mean. Been there!!! |
