I am confused about which head shot to use, I am new to acting and created my resume but have read on the boards that b/w headshots are out, can you guys please critique my photos and resume and let me know how I can improve?

Many thanks, Wendell.

Please visit and click on view photos under my name (bear with me, I'm new and not sure how to add a link to my backstage.com profile. (I am thinking the 2nd row the 2nd and 3rd shots)

Hi Wendell,

I don't know diddly about modeling -- my DDs an actress -- but I think you've definately got some shots to work with. You've got a great look!

As for the resume, you may not be getting comments on this message board b/c it's kind of hard to figure out what's your resume. At first I assumed that "personal statement" thing on the main page was your resume (in which case I was going to tell you that you really don't need all that "strong work ethic" stuff b/c most employers don't really look at that), but then I figured out that your resume is actually a link off your name at the top of the page.

Some other posters may have a hard time finding it.

Good luck!

Dear Wendell-

You seem a handsome enough lad.

But your physicality may be an issue as far as high fashion work. Modeling, unlike acting, requires that you readily fit into a pretty narrow range of sizes. For women, the prescribed measurements are 34-24-34, pushing 6' tall, and stick-thin. For the men, it's correspondingly similar, but you should be able to fit into a size 40-42 jacket perfectly.

Acting, on the other hand, confers no age, weight or height limitations on you -- a wealth of diversity is represented.

Fluff is correct about what's on your resume, however. There's a universe of difference between modeling and acting and your resume should reflect that. I would strongly suggest leaving anything at all to do with modeling out of your performance resume. There is a ton of good advice about how to set-up an effective resume on this board.

“Whatever works.”

Hi Robert-

Thanks so much on the feedback it's great to have these boards when you need help :-)

That's good to know about the acting resume vs. modeling resume. I've done my research somewhat on where I fit in the modeling industry so am pretty confident. I am planning on making a move to NYC after I send some agency packages out this summer.

I will check out the other boards - a brotha only has so much time in the day.

Much love,

Wendell

As an additional note, I would say the shot you've chosen as your current avatar is, among your portfolio shots, the strongest "headshot."

Hey Wendell--

I, too, don't know much about modeling as my dd is an actress as well...but
the photgrapher mentioned that you were using the untouched versions of the pics...
i wonder how much better the retouched versions are? you absolutely a handsome man---and could play your range that you mentioned (19-30). i really liked the one w/ the blurred background but your hair is different now, huh? the "avatar" one looks good. i would like to see the retouched version of the one where you are sitting and looking straight at the camera. the sun is hitting your face at an angle and causing some shadows. lets see the retouched version of that one! Smiler hope i helped a little. i could also see you looking nice is more colors....like purple or pink or a light sea green button-up dress shirts(not sissy--just a man who can wear those colors and look good) idk. i know it is too late now...unless you are going to get more done soon keep that in mind! Smiler But hey---what do I know?! lol
