I was actually wondering about this too. Basically, if you're submitting to an agency for commercial AND theatrical representation, do you send both shots?

Anyone?

Hello back to you- I wouldn't send the 2 photos in one envolope. NO ! lol ! Commercial is commercial and Legit is legit, and theatrical is theatrical. If your sending a head shot to any agents (comm. or legit) it would be wise to send a cover letter to let them know exactly what it is your expecting from them. When I first- first got started in this biz I massed mailed everyone and their mother. lol !! But throughout the years and a few experience later I learn to only mail those who I knew had a projects going on. (referring to CD's). When it came time for the agents I mailed those who I felt, or knew didn't have my type in their rooster. Don't just mail all agents you have to do some work on their agency first. I researched certain agency backgrounds for possible representation. Those were the ones that I knew I would fit in with. So you have to narrow it down, or else you'll go crazy and broke. lol ! Good Luck !

I read a good article about agents pretty recently from Showfax, and it seemed to say you shouldn't do a mass-mailing, either. The point made was that you should do some research on each agency and figure out which ones might be a good fit, and then target them over time. If you send out to 200 people, what would happen if 10 people call and want an interview on the same day? Their advice was to do it more slowly, and then follow up with a postcard at the ones you think would be best. I think you're only supposed to send the specific headshot marketed toward that agent - your resume should have your website or lacasting url so they can see more headshots if they want to. If they're interested in you, one headshot should be plenty. Then if they call you in for an interview you could bring your alternate shot, I suppose.

its more like, it wont hurt for a commercial agent to get a legit shot with the commercial shot.

but you cant just send the legit shot to a commercial agent with no commercial shot.

they arent gonna hire a hitman to kill you just because they got an extra shot they dont need in the mail.

Id say send both shots, the worse is they throw it away...

I THINK...

Send an envelope separately to each department and addressed to the right agent heading the specific department. It's more personal that way.

Er. I would shy away from Mass Mailings.

I would at least try to do some research on the agents first. Try to google them and see what you can get out of the search. You have to know who you're submitting to and see from word of mouth by any chance if they're the people you want to represent you. It's more flattering that way and very personal. That's how you'll get attention and noticed too.

Separate mailings too!

Cheers!
