I was actually wondering about this too. Basically, if you're submitting to an agency for commercial AND theatrical representation, do you send both shots? Anyone?

I read a good article about agents pretty recently from Showfax, and it seemed to say you shouldn't do a mass-mailing, either. The point made was that you should do some research on each agency and figure out which ones might be a good fit, and then target them over time. If you send out to 200 people, what would happen if 10 people call and want an interview on the same day? Their advice was to do it more slowly, and then follow up with a postcard at the ones you think would be best. I think you're only supposed to send the specific headshot marketed toward that agent - your resume should have your website or lacasting url so they can see more headshots if they want to. If they're interested in you, one headshot should be plenty. Then if they call you in for an interview you could bring your alternate shot, I suppose.

It's better to regret what you've done than what you haven't.

Send an envelope separately to each department and addressed to the right agent heading the specific department. It's more personal that way.
