Check out the reproductions list and meet with some of the photographers whose portfolios you like.

I think you will look great with a very natural look. Toning down the makeup, removing the earrings, and carefully choosing the right wardrobe will do wonders for you. You have great eyes and coloring -- your headshot should highlight those special qualities!

Good luck!

Okay! those are all great ideas. I will definitely follow through with them. Thanks so much everyone =)

and thank you TMR! I believe being a good actress involves taking criticism very well. If not, we would never grow. An open mind, and accepting help from others, is what is needed to succeed.

These seem like school photos. Definitely splurge and get yourself a good photographer who specializes in headshots. It will be to your advantage in the future.

I think you are adorable. But these headshots are awful.

And I've never heard of the "messy eyebrow look" that's just silly!

What I want to know is this-

HOW CAN THERE BE SOOOO MANY BAD PHOTOGRAPHERS OUT THERE?

It is scary the amount if bad shots we see here- really. I mean, I know that it is certainly an art form and there is a good set of skills needed to take a nice shot but I have seen novices (like my hubby) take better shots than most of what we see here. I mean, basic stuff like wardrobe choices. ANY photographer should know do not put a ton of jewelry on for a headshot. Another big whoopsie I see is do not put a subject wearing BLUE in front of a blue wall or a white shirt in front of white wall etc. Really basic stuff. Shadows on the wall, yearbook looking backgrounds. Just go to any good photographers webiste and use it as a guide, if you must. But learn your stuff!!

I don't mean to take over this pretty girl's thread but I am just so aggravated by the idea that any bum with a camera can get out there and charge money for crap that noone can use. Mad

To the OP- you really do have a remarkable unique look and I totally think you can kick ass and use your freckles to your advantage. You don't look like anyone else- you look like YOU and you look very comfortable in your skin and THAT is the sexiest quality a girl can have.

Confidence- now THAT is a girl's best friend. Wink

But if we get on a treadmill together you are going to get off first or I'm going to die. It's really that simple. I'm not going to be outworked." -Will Smith

I agree with everyone else- you are a very attractive young lady but these headshots are not doing you justice.

Definitely go to a photographer who specializes in headshots and I'm positive you will end up with fabulous pictures!

I'm with you on this one, Miss Stone. I find myself saying the same thing over and over again in here with the same criticisms each time. I need to just copy and paste my comments going forward. It's like no one is learning from the abysmal shots we see day in and day out. The funny part is when they've been a member here forever, visit this forum frequently, then show up with terrible shots and wonder why?

If actors only listened to us all first in here, they'd avoid half the common mistakes out there, including weeding out the terrible photographers that permeate the west and east coast industries. I too can't believe how many are out there defaming the real photographers names. It's killing me. I wish there were regulations, maybe some sort of drivers test every photographer has to take to get licensed to take headshots.

I'm tired of amateurs picking up cameras and ripping off actors, it's real disheartening. Actors by nature are already poor. it pisses me off that people take advantage of them, when they know they suck at headshots. I blame both the photographer for exploiting them and the actor for letting themselves be exploited.
