Hey guys... I just got my headshots done by Mark Weiss Photography...He took a good 400 photos..and I am supposed to choose 3 to be touched up. None of these are professionally touched up yet, because I need advice on which ones are good.
I'm 22 but as you can see I look much younger. I would love any suggestions.
I'll load some and I would absolutely love critiques. Be brutally honest I can take it! Thanks so much everyone.

Okay here is another one as well. The make up artist suggested the messy eye brow look.. I don't like it..but what do you guys think? I can try and ask them to airbrush it out if possible..I'm not sure it can be done.
Thanks guys.

I think you're very pretty and have a WONDERFUL smile!
My issue with these headshots is the accessories, which I find very distracting. In the first one, you have these huge round dangly earrings; in the second, your neck is covered by a huge scarf; in the third one, the shirt has a strange neckline. All these things are distracting and pull attention away from where is SHOULD be: your face.
Do you have any shots with simpler clothing and no distracting accessories?
Also, I'd say you do look 22. I can't see you playing high school (although it's possible you might look younger in a headshot where you're wearing more youthful clothing, like a T-shirt or something).

Thank you sooo much for the critiques. It is so helpful =)
I was told to bring three outfits to the shoot..I was unaware of the background he would be using so I had no choice once I saw I had light colors and a grayish/white background.
I have one other outfit that is just a plain green shirt, but they look like school photos and I hate them. I agree with the scarf idea. I won't use that one. I'll go skim through them again and maybe put up another one.
Is the earring really distracting? I can find another angle where you can't see them. Maybe he can photoshop it off! lol
Thanks so much again everyone

I just want to commend you, Katie, for taking the constructive comments so well and also for being aware in your own judgment that these aren't the best headshots. So often, actors post headshots here and ask for feedback, but then they get very upset when people point out aspects that should be better for a headshot - understandable, since no one wants to hear that they wasted their money, but not really a helpful attitude. The fact that you know you need better headshots already puts you a big step ahead!
And again, you are REALLY pretty and photogenic, so once you get a good headshot photographer, you'll have AMAZING shots!

There is a differnce between the portrait work your photographer does and headshots. If money is an issue, call him back and see if he will reshoot for no cost since the pictures, lovely as they may be, aren't usable for the purpose you need them for. Be specific about why they don't work and what you need him to do differently. If you can afford it, skip him completely and choose a photographer who understands headshots. You can look through this thread to find names. you can also go to the Reproductions website and they list a number of headshot photographers http://www.reproductions.com/NYC/directory/index.html
If you are lookiing for younger parts, make sure to do a shot that conveys that!
good luck.
