What do YOU think of them? Do you think they pop? Have spark? Capture you at your best? If one of these fell in your lap, would it jump out at you and make you want to call that person in? I know you are new but I want to know what your instincts are? How do you feel about these shots? Do you think the lighting is good, are the colors bright? Think about it carefully. Then tell me how you feel.

Firstly, you have a great look. You'd be welcome into any CD's door, IF you had headshots that worked. I won't play any q&a games with you, I'll just tell you what I think since that's what your question was.
The first problem is you look flat-out bored in these pictures. Once you get past the poor lighting and snapshot quality all you have left is a disinterested looking actor. You need to step up and get yourself some professionally done headshots.
Do your research, keep an eye on the quality of lighting and compare the pro's with what you have here, there's a huge difference!
SMILE! You need to connect with your photographer. It doesn't even look like you've been introduced to him in these headshots.

Good luck, sincerely.
Helping people help themselves was a good idea. It wasn't a game. People can't learn if you don't let them think about things themselves sometimes. I wanted to see what HE thought.
Make your comments and move on. No need to mention mine at all.

First off, I appreciate the advice. As a beginner, I guess I wasn't really sure what to expect with my first shoot. My intent was to just to obtain "starter" headshots, just something to use for the first year or so of auditions. I do plan on getting professional shots soon.
Overall, I suppose I wasn't overly impressed with the results. Granted, these photos haven't been post-processed, though I am not sure how much it will help. In retrospect, perhaps the shoot seemed a bit rushed. The photographer had little experience with headshots. But at the end of the day, it's me who is the object. And if I'm not connecting with the camera, then I'm glad I know that. I would like to post a few more different ones and see if you feel the same way about those (will do so later tonight).
Again, thanks for your help!

Tim, if the photographer is not comfortable shooting headshots why would you be comfortable and able to connect? You couldn't be.
You need to shoot with someone who's specialty is Headshot Photography. That way, they are 100% confident with the lighting and composition and are able to focus on you, the subject!
Starting small? That seems to me like justifying bad shots but from the very beginning you should NEVER submit anything that isn't the best you can do/afford.
You really have no idea what you are up against. The stiffest competition known to man. Everyone wants this. The majority have awesome headshots. You get one shot a lot of the time. Make it count.
This business takes everything.
