You're very attractive and it looks like you have a great personality, but this shot will not help you.

Best,

Yeah, you have a very cute smile and would do well with some pro headshots.

If you can't afford a professional photographer, I bet you could find someone at school who's into photography and could at least help you get a better shot than you've currently got. Given the high number of talented young photographers I've seen on Flickr, there's undoubtedly someone (a friend, friend of a friend, etc) who has got some photo skills. Seek them out!

If you don't have the means, then you must wait to pursue acting until you do. There are too many people with the necessary funds and good quality headshots that you will be competing with. This is the most competitive business in the world and nothing short of your very best will do, especially regarding your headshot. If you send that photo around town you will be wasting your time. Blaneyphoto had some sound advice. Start there. Treat this like a business starting today if you are SERIOUS about it and willing to save every dollar and go without trivial things to pursue it. Work two jobs- whatever you can do and MORE. It MUST come first to be successful at it. No debate.

You're adorable but boy I would seriously crop it. The top just looks way too uncomfortable--remember, you generally want to look younger.
