Just a little confused about my dd's 8X10 test print and the size of her resume paper??? This is the first batch of prints I will be reordering from Reproductions or anywhere other than original photographer, and after receiving the test print and seeing that it was not the same size as regular inkjet paper or resume paper (which I usually use to staple to back of photo), I'm wondering what most people do to compensate for this... trim the edges of 50 resumes? UGH... and why were her originals the same size as regular paper (a perfect fit), obviously somewhat larger than 8X10.. I suppose 81/2X11. I know that the resume can't be larger than the photo...HELP PLEASE!!!

You can either cut down the resume, or get pre-cut paper.

It really isn't a big deal. Get a scrapbooking paper cutter from a craft store.

Always have about 5 headshot/resume combos ready to go. But don't go overboard - you will be updating the resume pretty frequently and pulling the darned staples out pretty much ruins the headshot.

I staple them together, then get a scissors and trim around the edges of the resume, using the headshot as my guide. Low-tech, but it's worked fine for me.

Okay, so now those of us who are Moms/Managers are visual creative artists as well...and how much are we getting paid for all this..hehe? I swear, my Masters degree is collecting so much dust I could be making $$ selling pet dust bunnies! All kidding aside, I truly love you guys and your 'easy way out' ideas.. okay, off to the craft store. Thank you!

You can also go to FedEx/Kinko's and they have a machine that cuts hundreds of pages at a time if you need it to. It's only like $2. Have them trim off the edges so that it's 8x10. Easy!

Then there's always printing on the back of the print with an inkjet. You need heavy paper stock, proper printer and know what you're doing. Whole different discussion on previous threads.
As they say on Myth Busters, "Don't do this at home. We're what you call professionals".
LOL.
Ducking for cover....

This is the absolute BEST!! They will cut a whole ream at one time. It will go through your printer without coming out lopsided and always lines up neatly with the edges of your headshot.

Cutting it neatly yourself is ANNOYING!!

I use a paper cutter, but NOT just any paper cutter. Get one that has a sliding blade, NOT a guillotine style. The sliding blade makes straight and neat cuts.

Thanks all... I can't believe I never paid attention to the fact that regular letter sized printing paper was .5X1' larger than what actors need for their resumes, I've been so unprofessional about this-guess it's time to straighten up and fly right..so I called Kinkos, definitely a good option. Love the idea of purchasing 8X10 paper too since the resume is modified so often. Had some trouble finding it though. Do you order online?

El,

Just ONCE, buy a ream of paper, take it to the freaking Kinko's, and come off of three bucks to get it sized. If you don't think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, you need to find out if you're Martha Stewart's long lost child and collect. No one loves a craft project more than I do, but I do NOT miss paper cutting.

8X10 is a rip off. I've NEVER seen it priced less than 10X that of letter sized

precisionphotos.com wants $5 for TWENTY FIVE SHEETS OF PAPER!!!! NNNNOOOOOOOO!!!

I ordered it online from actorpaper.com think it was $6.00 for 50 sheets. For me it is a better option than cutting it myself or trying to get to a Kinko's, maybe that will be another option when I have more hours in the day.
