Hi, my name is Andrew Hillmedo. I've been getting some mixed reviews on my new headshots, the negative feedback has been from my manager and family. I'd like to see what you guys think. Are these good or do I need a reshoot?

I had initially liked them before the bad feedback. They were done by Barry Morgenstein in NY.

I think they are shot too tight. They need to show more of your body to give people more of an idea about you and what you are about. Also, from what I can see of that shirt, it probably is not too consistent with the sort of parts you would be sent out for, I think. As a final note, your manager does not like them, correct? If you are entrusting someone with your career, that has to start now, beginning with the headshots. If you don't trust their judgment, then what is the point? Good luck....

Hey Andrew, I really like the second pic. I feel however that the cropping and/or fitting of the shot is "choking" the picture. Also, you have a very glowing face, the red shirt is competing with you for attention. I think its a good idea to take your manager's and family's advice, after all -- your family has your best interest at heart and only want to see you look the best that they know you can.

If your manager thinks you should have them redone then I would have them redone. They have your best interest at heart and face it, they want you to get work because that is how they make their money. They know the business so I would listen to what they say.

What is lacking for me is any kind of spark or connection to the camera. As an adult, you should be wearing makeup and do some retouching. While you want to look like your picture, you also want to eliminate anything that is distracting. The area under your eyes immediately jumps out and could easily be fixed. You don't want to hide your age completely but you can soften it a bit. If you were to book a film or tv role, you would be wearing makeup to cover your under eye problems anyway.

You look like you have a nice smile but here it is too reserved for me. And, please, I am not being mean here, but you could pose to get rid of the little neck roll. Wear a T-shirt or open collar-dress shirt and you will look more natural.

But, you are a cutie with great features.

Ok, so I'm set for a reshoot the 23rd. Any tips that I should use for myself on the next shoot? Anything I should do or keep in mind?

For the reshoot maybe take more smiling pics because you have a great commercial look. Also, I agree with the poster that advised using a different shirt...a green or blue color would look great with your eyes. Have fun!
