Don't cheap out. I did 3 sets of cheap headshots ($200 each time) several years ago and they never got me anywhere. I think $350-500 is reasonable for great shots. Photography is really an art and you need to look your best

Wow, it really is like a broken record in here isn't it.

The problem is not the price of the photographer it is the style. DAMN! Look at their portfolio. If it looks good and you fit in that setting then do it. There are photographers that charge $500 that can't capture anything worth a damn.

An actor does not have to go broke to pursue this business. The problem is your comfort level in the session. If you are going in scared that the cheaper photographer is not any good then your shoot will be CRAPY! Why because you let it be.

Blake Gardener is great and he has different price ranges based on the amount of looks you want. When I did mine it was $300 for two looks and he is very easy to feel comfortable with.

Why would you go cheap on one of the most important tools? actors have only a few ways to make an impression. why wold you cheat yourself. if you cannot afford $400-$500 for headshots, then get out of the business...it's going to be a long haul. here are the best photograpers in LA: paul smith, david zaugh, peter konerko, michael d'ambrosia, and vanie poyey. they are consistent and affordable for what they offer. I hear Blake Gardner and Paul Gregory are decent too.

I like Kevyn Major Howards work, he's pricy but worth it, once you shoot with him you dont need to shoot again untill you drastically change your look. Also he understands that "green" actors arent made of money so he offers a payment plan as well. You can check out his portfolio at www.headshot-photography.com Why do it wrong 3 times when you can do it right once

Payment plan does not equal affordable or reasonable... it just equals "in debt".

Not needing new headshots until your look has changed is true regardless of whom you shoot with!

Apprentice... from all your posts about KMH on this board it sounds like you have a vested interest in pushing KMH? Yes?
