Quick question! I know that a theatrical headshot is "serious", while a commercial headshot is happy and smiling. But what if you're auditioning for a film or play that's a wacky comedy? Would you use the smiling headshot for that? (To me it makes sense that you would, since smiling would fit the character better, but if there's an unspoken rule that all film/theater auditions MUST have a serious non-smiling headshot, I'll follow that rule!)

Whether you're smiling or serious has become somewhat irrelevant. For a commercial, it's preferred that you're smiling and happy. For a theatrical, you can go both ways.

I use my main commercial headshot for theatrical especially if I know it's a comedy or the story is more light-hearted.
