Hi there,
I'd love some feedback on this commercial shot...I used lighting from our theatre. Thanks!

um, well, I have to say the head is not the main focus of this photo. Try cropping it and repot. Or repost.

Thanks Anita, I cropped the photo and reposted. It looks a bit blurry now, probably from compressing for the boards ~ It's actual size is better quality.

I can't put my finger on it exactly but I do not like it. I think it is the black background.
I am a huge fan of outdoor shots myself. they just look softer and not as harsh as indoor shots do.

Do you have any shots against a different background? You have this amazing red hair that gets completely lost in the black background. Also... this picture has more of a portrait feel as opposed to a headshot.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I took these indoors because whenever I take outdoor pics I always look so pale and washed out, no matter how much makeup I slap on. But great advice about the background ~ I do think it's too harsh so I'll try hanging up a lighter sheet and trying again. That's the trouble with doing these yourself...it takes a few tries to get it right. Smiler

You have beautiful eyes, long neck, beautiful red eyes and very attractive. This picture doesn't do you justice.

Hire a makeup artist. Totally different than street makeup. Every time my makeup's done on a shoot I feel as if I look like a whore, but in the final shots makeup looks minimal.

Thank you Chris, that is very kind of you. And transfergirl that is GREAT advice about hiring a makeup artist! I seriously need help in that department. I won't be using this picture. I'd like to try taking them myself again, but using different lighting and a white background, as well as taking a few outdoor shots (with makeup help). If they don't turn out, I can always get them done professionally at a later date. I just have a great camera and have access to a theatre, so I figured I may as well try to do them myself since it's free. Thanks again everyone.
