My daughter has mostly singing (national anthem performances and a radio commercial) and dance experience (with numerous awards, scholarships etc.) so I am trying to figure out how to create a decent resume for her. I think from what I have seen is you dont put dates for anything? Is that true? Any help is creatly appreicated.

Hi. No, you shouldn't list any dates for training, performances, or anything.

If you use the find button on this site, you should find some resume examples.

For example, you would have a heading for THEATRE and under theatre, you would list the name of the Show in one column, then the name of the Role in another column, then the name of the Theatre/Director in the third column.

Hey, I'm just going to use this thread to ask a question so that I won't create another one, I hope that's OK.

My question is: if you are starting in the business, what actually can you put on your resume if you have just played in school and university plays?

I'm graduating in 2012 with a degree in Acting, but by now I've only done NUMEROUS amounts of schools plays (always lead roles). So, does anyone actually put their school plays on their resume? I mean, for me it doesn't look good, but of course if every newbie starting in the business does that, I would definitely do that too. And also, how do you know which plays to choose to put on your resume, cause I've probably done like 30 of them? I've been acting in Lithuania, so no one would know what the schools, drama teachers are, etc. They will also probably won't know the name of the plays, cause except Shakespear most of them were Russian (by A.P.Chekhov, for example).

Thank-you in advance!

If you have 30 plays and nothing else, LIST THEM! Most actors starting out in LA have yet to even do one play. You're already ahead of the game.

Don't disregard Anton Chekhov's works. His plays are well respected and well known, so you should definitely list his stuff.

Thank you for the respone, Truthteller.

But the thing is, that all those plays have been performed in school. So, do I actually list them on my resume as:

STAGE/THEATRE/PLAYS (?)
Chekhov's "Chaika" School play Olga Michailovna (director)
Chekhov's "Medved" School play Konstantin Nekrasov (director)
Pushkin's "Evegenij Onegin" School Play Olga Michailovna (director)
etc...

Or in any other kind of way?

For school productions I recommend listing the name of the theatre in which it was performed with a brief abreviation of the school. For example:

Hamlet Ophelia Stallwert Theatre/OSU
