Like any other company, not all reproduction companies are created equal. When I look for quality, the first thing I do is to check how long they've been in business and what their track record is. Whenever you go by cost alone, you're asking for problems. There are only TWO WAYS of reproducing a headshot, the photo process and the lithography (or "litho") process. The first is an actual photograph, printed on actual photography grade paper. Lithos are actually made with ink on a printing press, much like a magazine -- it's always cheaper but it's never as good. LA has always allowed lithos for submissions, no doubt due to the fact that there are so many more jobs available and the need for a cheaper alternative to photos was needed but here in the Big Apple, stick with photographs ONLY. "Whatever works." www.robertkim.com
