If you're desperate for a copy, anything is better than nothing. But, I highly recommend Reproductions (7 West 40 Street). There's a reason they do the vast majority of headshot reproductions in the city. I believe they have a 2 day turnaround, but check their web site (www.reproductions.com).

Good luck.

Latin..you can get 50 for $80 at Modernage or Reproductions, but you will pay 5-6 six apiece at Staples/Kinkos. Even if you don't really need that many this week, you might need them in the next month and the color will be much better. I'd go for the 50.

I would be very weary of not knowing how they print for that price. If they are using an excepted printer such as the Fuji Frontier and you have confidence that they replenish their chemicals and the operator knows the difference between automatic settings and how to shut them off, then go ahead... When I need short runs of a few copies I actually go to my local WalMart up here and get them for 2.84 a copy because I know what to ask for and the operator knows how to run the Frontier. I actually have a profile of the printer.
I really believe that Staples and Kinkos uses Xerox machines. They might just scan a photo and use an HP ink jet, still pretty bad. I have a feeling that they do not have any idea of color workflow. Don't do it unless you know different.

The Fuji Frontier is certainly a masterpiece of a machine. Some Duane Reades have them. I was st a store near agent Stanley Kaplan's office. I think that they had a FF there, but they also had a self-service Fuji that I tried out. WHat a piece of crap that machine was. Photos were so greenish I used the back for scrap paper and only showed them to others as bad examples.

That being said, when I need 10 or so 8x10 I go to Staples with my flash media and pay I think it is 49¢ for color [8.5x11?} plain paper. Then I pay 8¢ for resume at the back in B&W. I have on occaison supplied my own HP softgloss paper.

You should definitely consider GPS (Grand Photo Solutions) for reproducing your headshots. They do an excellent job retouching, they have the same prices as Reproductions, and if you get more than one service done, they will most likely throw in some sort of discount (though this is not guaranteed). They're located on 17th between 5th and 6th aves.
