Hey guys and gals earlier this month I got my first headshots taken and I was hoping to receive some comments/criticisms over the quality/look of the shots. I was also wondering if you could help me decide which one would best be used for a commercial shot (these are my top 4 for commercial). We ended the session with me having about 175 shots on a disc. And my being the indecisive obsessive person that I am cannot decide on my own so I ask for your help. I also have theatrical looks and more commercial in 2 different looks but I'll save that for some other time. First things first. I want to hear whatever you have to say no matter how cruel, filthy, or arousing it may be!

First shot

Second shot

Third shot

Fourth shot

Okay so once again I hope these shots are okay I've been lurking these boards for a while and have hopefully learned something from all your threads/posts.

These are decent. I like the last one the best.

As a nit-picky thing I just wish you weren't wearing blue on blue....but you look great and nice and friendly and approachable.

Good work!

Thanks, DK. Lesson learned: don't wear colors too similar. I was hoping the contrast would be greater but it wasn't as much as I had hoped. Definitely something to do differently for the next time.

I like these! Friendly and fun and a great smile!

It's hard to choose because they're so similar, but I think any of them would work, personally.

Nice shots. I like 1 and 4. 1 has a bit more of that innocent boy next door look, while 4 has a bit more confidence. You could use both for different submissions.

You could have a retoucher play with the colors a little. Below I did a really quick (and a little sloppy) desaturation of the hoodie so that you're not completely swimming in blue but you still get the bright blue commercial pop from the tshirt...I think it allows your face to command more attention.

You could also have color of the hoodie changed to be a bright color that would complement the blue tshirt. Or vice versa.

Wow that looks amazing, DK. Thank you for spending the time to do that for me, I'll save that picture and keep your advice in mind when I decide to print/send some of these things out. Once again thank you!

Definitely DK's photoshop pic is better for you. The blue on blue takes so much away from your look and actually leads your eye right to your shirt. Where the grey hoody now leads your eye straight to your smiling face. Funny how little things like that can make a big difference.

But for your first photo shoot I am impressed. Very clean look you have and the energy is definitely there for you. Good job.

No doubt, if Dennis spent the time to do a complete job, he would have removed the blue haze around your cheeks and neck. Just make sure your retoucher does it.

Looks great!

Good luck,

Ron

I did say it was a sloppy 5-second job! :-)
