I was wondering,

Would using a compcard (4x5) be okay to use for acting instead of the 8x10? I have a bunch of left over comp cards and it would be a shame to waste them. The back shows me in a suit, casual clothing, it seems better to me.

Well, it would be a big pain in the ass to staple your resume to it without all this excess paper getting crumpled up. Are you using them for mass mailings? Or for when you physically go to the audition? Or both?

Above and beyond the logistics of using them... I'd say get some headshots done... they are the accepted standard and it will make you look like you are serious abut it.

There are times when it's good to stand out by doing something different, and times that it's not a good thing.

Composite cards have been submitted by commercial agents in lieu of headshots for many years.

But this is for commercials ONLY, and that's a critically important difference. Most commercial agencies have commercial and print divisions and often represent their talent for both, thus often using comp cards to submit for both.

DO NOT submit composites of any kind for legitimate acting roles! You don't want to give legit casting directors the impression that you are a model. This is probably the worse thing you can do and I do not recommend the practice. For dramatic acting roles, submit color 8x10's ONLY.

Not acceptable to use if you want to be taken seriously.

Well... I was hoping to use comp cards but I guess not. Thanks for the advice!

But it would be nice to use them for mass mailing, kind of expensive sending them.
