Ok, so I KNOW I need new Headshots, that’s a given. The ones I have right now I got done for free so I think they are decent for being free headshots but I can’t decide which I should be using. Please let me know which is best FOR NOW I know that when I move to LA in two months new headshots is right there with acting classes on my list of first things to do. Thank you!!!

BTW-I'm 21 but my age range is 14-22 let me know if that seems appropriate as well.

Commercial Headshots

I wouldn't send these out. I know you said they are temporary, but I would wait until you can afford new ones. You have a really good look, but these are overly posed, and you look uncomfortable. I'd like to see you looking natural, connecting to the camera, and not trying to be anything but who you are. That will serve you best!

Good luck.

Best,

Ron

The shots with the blue background are overexposed and filled with hot spots of light on your face.

The outdoor shots capture no light in your eyes.

As Ron said, you are too posey in both, so definitely get new ones.

That said, if you have to use any of these, I would use the one TVI said to use.

Hi Alanna,

I disagree with TVI on this.

Sorry but I don't think you should use any of these. They're just plain bad. No fault of yours.

You are too cute to use sub-par headshots. It is really selling yourself short.

Also, if you feel "iffy" on using this go with your gut. With headshots it is really important that the actor feels confident in their headshot.

You should be able to drop your headshot down on the table and feel like "pow!" not with an apologetic vibe.

Don't feel you need to "settle" on a shot until you get new ones.

Also, when you get new ones, hire the photographers make up artist. Your make up should look fresh and natural and "non-make-up-y".

good luck,

rod

There's no reason someone like you can't get work. That said, the only thing that would hurt you would be headshots that are of poor quailty and say to people you don't care enough to get good ones.

So, if you really want to succeed, get some good shots taken.

You are in the age bracket that I would say is the most competitive. Be prepared that those other girls will be BRINGING IT. You better be ready to do the same.

Weren't you the one asking about living off extra work in the other thread? Honestly, sweetie with that as a plan, these shots and I am guessing not much money saved up if any, your whole plan is very scary.

I do pray your parents are going to be chipping in as otherwise.....hamster in a wheel. If you get out there and can't even afford new shots as your only making $100 a day here or there, you will be wasting your time.

Pic 2 isn't too bad if you crop it like TVI says. You have kind of a sweet cheerleader, evil older teen look.

TVI sucks! Those "career counselors" are actors who are only one small step ahead of you. They ONLY care about you signing up for the next class so they can get their commission.

These are no good! You're way too cute to be using these. In two of them you're shot as such a weird angle that you look like one of those carnival caricature drawings. And in the other two you're jutting out your chest unnaturally as if you're saying "look at my breasts."

I think Pic Two is the best shot of you since you pop out the most, hit should be cropped, like the others have said, and just in my personal opinion, I would prefer if you were looking a bit more at the camera than at a 3/4 angle to see more of your face, but that's just my personal preference...

I was the one asking about extra work before but since then I’ve talked with some connections and friends I have in LA and have decided to get a wait staff job, My friend knows the owner of a restaurant there so Ill probably still do some extra work but not too much. I am planning on taking about 300 for new headshots when I get down there, they will probably be done within my first month while I sign up with classes. I kind of felt the same about TVI as well, like they were just actors themselves and that TVI is just this second job or what they use to help pay income while they act (i don’t know so don’t yell at me about how they work at TVI this is just what i got from talking to them)

This has been helpful thank you guys any other comments are helpful.

I don't think you should use any of these. Your head is tilted too far down in the ones with the blue background. And I disagree with TVI's choice. In that shot you look....for lack of a better word....constipated.
