A number of you said my DD should get new headshots. We finally got them. The hood shot is strictly for a vampire look and the eyes closed one is just for us, not for acting submissions. What do you think?

Very pretty! She looks like a mix of Lily Cole and Dakota Fanning.

StephM, she is beautiful. I remember her old shots and I thought she was very special back then. Now, did you get your headshots in NYC? Was it RK? Who was the photog? I'm sure everyone is dying to know. She looks like Amanda Siegfried (sp) a little, but not enough to go unnoticed. I wish her great luck in the her future. Good job!

well, if you want some nitpicking-

the retouching is BAD. all around her hair. it's strange. because of the retouching, it almost looks like she was superimposed onto the backgrounds. or they were superimposed behind her. the ONLY one it doesn't bother me on is the hoodie shot. the other ones, its just really poor retouching around her hair and makes the pix look a bit fake. you can see in some of the pix where the curls are cut off randomly in mid-curl. maybe it's just my imagination or my monitor, but it looks kinda silly, like she's floating or has an odd haze of some kind all around her hair.

also, does she curl her hair like that every day? and for every single audition? i ask because they are clearly curling iron curls and not anything natural. so unless she curls before EVERY audition, or at least 90% of them, she probably shouldn't have fake curl shots. maybe one, but the majority should be her natural hair.

i'm not a big fan of studio backdrops (like the fake green thing in 2 of her shots) because they look like backdrops and not like the subject is part of a scene.

i love the background of the closed eye shot. was that a backdrop or a real scene? it's nice!

anyway, like i said, this is just nitpicking. she is beautiful!

Some shots do look like a plastic doll but she is very pretty and number 3 is my favorite.

This is Stephanie's mom. Thanks for all your nice compliments, especially everyone who advised us to get new headshots! We're getting amazing responses from my DDs new pics. After researching several Backstage headshot photographers, we chose Robert Kim (good call, nonstagemom and star_kali) after we compared his website with many others we saw online . There really wasn't anyone else.
To americangirl
With all due respect-- after reading all your comments about RK's retoucher's work, we noticed numerous inconsistencies in your responses. First you allege that my DD's retouching is "BAD." You slammed Morgin Felicia's headshots for the exact same thing, even when half of her photos weren't even retouched. But when Tim Russell posted his headshots and you didn't know that Robert took them, you praised them so highly you tripped over your own tongue, declaring that they were, "CLEARLY NOT RETOUCHED." You even advised Tim Russell not to get any retouching done at all, when in reality, all his headshots had already been done by the same retoucher who did ours. Evidently, Robert's retoucher is so good that you couldn't even tell that his photos were retouched! Then you aimed your bullets at one of my daughter's most striking features-- her beautiful hair. Your outrageous claim that her curls are "FAKE" was as over the top as the rest of your unjustified remarks. But before you take aim at anyone else again, make sure you know what you're aiming at. Here is Stephanie's junior class photo taken in November of last year:

My daughter has flawless skin and her hair is naturally wavy. The retoucher did not, "CUT OFF HER CURLS RANDOMLY IN MID-CURL" as you claim, she only removed her flyaways. The retouching was minimal and Robert's make up artist did the rest. What you call "nitpicking" most others call "sniping." You were so intent on bashing our headshots that you even complained about what kind of BACKDROPS Robert uses! But that's nothing new-- we remember you slamming Tim Russell's headshots for the very same reason. I thought the backgrounds he chose were absolutely stunning and only added to the beautiful look of Stephanie's shots. We don't mind constructive criticism, americangirl, but what you're offering just doesn't qualify.

She is gorgeous and the pictures are beautiful! It may be the photographers style that causes the skin to look plastic, I am not sure, but even with flawless skin it should still look like skin in a headshot. But they are still beautiful!

Thanks for your input, AustenCA. These were the un-curved images directly from the retoucher. The final product will have plenty of skin texture.Big Grin

You have a beautiful face and great bone structure. You remind me of Lana Turner.

Your daughter looks great in these pictures. However, not sure of her age but these pics make her look at least 20-25. Hard to say since I have never seen her but in these pictures she looks nothing like the picture you have on your post with the flower in her hair. The most important thing about a headshot is that they look exactly how you look when you walk into a casting.

Robert discussed what he wanted to do for Stephanie long before our actual shoot. Before we went with him, we looked at literally hundreds of his photos first. He shoots lots of kids, but he doesn't lump them all into one category like cattle. He explained to me that Steffy had what he described as a "ethereal" look to her, perfect for a "Juliet" kind of role. He compared her energy to that of Dakota Fanning-- not the typical bouncy, wild teenager, but a much more subdued and cerebral type (good call JynLnd13!!). Because of her pale skin and "other worldly" quality, he suggested we even do a "Twilight" Goth look for her too, which she LOVED. Because of her thick, curly hair, he decided to use that to her benefit, framing her large eyes to help bring them out. He was looking for a soft, romantic type of feel, and I think we achieved that. His make up artist Colleen used an extremely light touch, making her best features stand out without burying her under tons of foundation. Robert personally selected all of her clothes.
To castlerock, if you think that her high school year book photo with the big flower in her hair was a better way to market her, I'd be happy to give you the photographer's name and number. But I'm sorry, I don't agree. When your notice the huge numbers of teen super models in the business (Chanel's top cover girl was only fourteen) and how they package young film actors today, you may realize that all "kids" just aren't the 'kids' our parents used to know.
