I haven't been on this board in so long, but I've gotten so much advice when I first got my daughter started in modeling. I'm trying to pick a good shot to update her book.

Are any of these okay? I took them myself and believe me I don't claim to be a photographer. Smiler

Does your child have an agent is probably the first question, I'd ask. If so, it would really be a good idea to ask the agent how they feel about the photos. If you are self submitting and the photos are getting your child called in then they are working.
My opinion, I don't really see a lot of personality coming through from this very pretty child but in this economy - ( if the shots are working) you may get by with them for a child. If not, there are some great NJ photographers who work with children and get great results such as wonderful personality showing through.

Personally,I don't think anyone can give you the perfect correct answer about these pictures, everyone will have an opinion, but the bottom line is really about if they are working or not. It is very easy for someone to say go spend money, there is no guarantee that spending more money will work right now. The business is very slow, everyone is cutting back.

The real answer lies in what you expect from the business right now and how much you are willing to spend to see if you can achieve what you expect.

Your dd is at the age when she is competing with kids who have pro shots. I agree with the above poster about speaking with your agent tho. If you are just looking for headshots, you can get them done for under $200 in NY. A full comp card may run you $400, but I do believe in the end it will be worth it.

Thanks! She has an agent and has booked many jobs but I'm at the waiting stage for really good tear sheets. She recently did the Ralph Lauren National Spring Campaign and I won't get those pictures until May.

I was going to get professional headshots but all the big jobs she's gotten have been from snapshots that I took so I figured it would be a waste of money.

I try and take pictures of her every couple of months to stay recent though.

Thanks for the advice and I will call the agency and see what they say. So far I've been lucky and they've never requested pro shots.
