i think it can be important to ask. i would not recommend my last photographer because while i liked him at our initial meeting to see if i would like him, our shoot was totally different. he rushed from one shoot to then do my shoot, then rushed out of mine to do another. i felt rushed and insecure, and while i told him i photograph older and need younger poses and angles and make-up, my headshots all came off as "young mom" as opposed to high schooler or college student.

i personally would not recommend him for that reason. sometimes you can't tell at a first meeting, as was the case with me. he became completely different the day of the shoot. and not for the better. and didn't listen to my concerns, as evidenced by the final shots (not to mention that nearly half of the photos were out of focus, which is also important to know! so they weren't even usable had they been good otherwise).

so there IS some use to asking.

I dont like any of them a lot... but robin looks good.

I would go to reproductions though

I dont like that Robin "times" the session...

they are both crazy expensive, and I have been somewhat disappointed with Bradford's work of late...
He seems to not do as well with women who are not models...

I used David Muller and he was cheaper than those guys. Of course I used him on a buddy discount so I'm not exactly sure how much it would have been without it.

Out of those two, I'd go with Anthony just because he has variety. That being said.. in his portfolio every now and then the lighting is totally off.
Anytime I see something like that in a portfolio, it leaves me with the impression that the really good shots are flukes, or that the photographer was too lazy to work with that actor's lighting that day.
Either way, not wonderful...

Dtto what FaithLove said. And a lot of those imgages on Anthony's site look too "hot", as in overexposed.

Additionally, I will never "just Google" to find a photographer ever again. As Truthteller mentioned, too many crackerjacks like KMH can come up that way. I want to have referrals from mutiple people and only then will I know they can deliver. I like it when people here post unretouched shots etc because then we can truly see what the work is like. A website tells you nothing other than they are great at Photoshop. I learned that the hard way. Well, not so hard. I demanded a refund from this other clown and he delivered.

Like I've said countless times, how do the photographers do with girls like you? I didn't see any young Asian girls in Anthony's portfolio. I know a lot of the people who have shown good examples of Bradford's work on here that were Asian girls.

I hate recommending photographers, but besides David Muller and Bradford, I like the following because they do a great job at photographing Asians like you and me.
