Yes everyone has an opinion, but some peoples experiences and thier opinion can save you money and frustration from not being noticed by agents and casting directors. My opinion is just an opinion, but after having "bad" headshots done based on some feedback from established and notable casting directors here is mine.
Remember that your headshot is your personal calling card and your foot in the door. It should be taken as seriously as training or gaining experience.
CD's and agents do not like the "trendy" landscape effect, because they have to flip and turn when going through a pile of headshots. They also want to see your full face, the top of your head, and at least 1/3 of your upper body. This is especially true for commercial headshots. They want to know that you have a full head of hair, make no assumptions they think you may. A casting director gave me an example of girl who submitted this type of headshot and when she called her in her forehead line was to big for what they were looking for.
Your eyes are not captured correctly in the lens and not dead on. No offense I hope, but your right eye could be considered a lazy eye. They should have had you turn your head little to correct the angle and get your eyes in focus.
They have also cut off too much of your upper body and chest area. The agents and CD's need to see this as well.
The background is distracting and not bringing you to the front of the picture. Perhaps you can have another picture retouched with the background darkened a little to accomplish this.
Just my opinion, but from the voices of experienced LA agents and cd's I consulted you had my best interest at heart. I hope it helps. It is one of the most difficult things to decide on in the process, but in the long run it pays off when you have got the right headshot and the invites start rolling in.
Good luck with and best wishes in your career!
