Any suggestions? I'm looking to get two new headshots and would feel more comfortable going to someone on a recommendation, since it'll be an investment. Thanks in advance!

If you plan on staying in SF I'd just turn your webcam on and smile for one shot and grimace for another, click the mouse a couple times and call it a day! There is no film or TV market there to speak of, and there aren't any good photographers either. So really no reason to plunk down several hundred bucks for something that will be entirely obsolete if you decide to go to LA. Go ultracheap, my friend.

Hey guys, I'm new to the bay area and I do actor headshots too.

Thanks,
Roger
P.S. Be sure to read the Backstage article that talks about how economizing on your headshots is self-sabotage.

I agree, Lisa Keating has been around for YEARS, and was popular when I worked in SF back in the late 90's. http://www.lisakeatingphotography.com

As you compare headshot photographers, look closely at the *eyes.* There's an article on the Backstage website that includes a quote from a casting agent who mentions that, in a great headshot, "there's something in the eyes." Maybe it's a windows-to-the-soul thing, or maybe the right "eye language" connects better with the viewer.

I've been getting my headshots from Awesome Headshots in San Ramon. Great bunch of people and great headshots. This guy is SAG and AFTRA preferred. www.awesomeheadshots.com They work for me, the actor not their pocket book.

If you are having a San Francisco Wedding I would also recommend Lisa Keating. She is pretty good.

Lisa Keating is very well known and excellent. Most important though is to view lots of photos, understand the photographer's style and make sure it meshes with what you want.
