Hey Guys I was wondering if I could get your help with my looks. I don't feel if my headshots are working. I thought I was on to something by going the natural route, since the agents/ CD's are looking for more real people.and also looking for age-range. I think my manager are pegging me in the wrong area. Thanks a bunch

I think you are dead-on. Good job for recognizing when something is not working.

I won't go into detail why they don't work unless you want me to as you already know they are not suitable. Keep an eye on these boards and do some research and you will see what works very soon.

Since you are on the west coast, try
David Muller or Dennis Kwan. There are many out there and no matter who you use, their websites will give you ideas about what to look for. Take your time and you'll get the shot you want.

FIRE YOUR MANAGEER!

Here's why it's NOT working:
-"My head is too heavy so I'm going to rest it on my fist."

This is distracting and takes away from the shape of your chin.

-I'm more interested in your jewelry than you. NEVER wear jewelry in a headshot!

-Would your really wear a flowery tunic top with a sports coat? I'm a straight male and even find something wrong with that.

What Truthteller says is the truth; but of equal importance, you want a shot where you are truly connecting. You've got a great look, but in this shot you look distracted and slightly P-O'd.

Best,

Ron

Way too fake and posed. The expression also doesn't match the dress, which doesn't match the coat. And there is too much background, I feel like it's some "Visit Puerto Rico!" postcard...

And a note to photographers: for god's love, people, we are no longer in the 70's: DO AWAY WITH THE POSED HANDS IN HEADSHOTS! Unless it's a 3/4 shot and they are hanging at your sides, I don't want to see your damned hands!

I hear you about the hands and agree but it was popular until the 90's. It died with black and white photos.
