Hi, just a quick question, is it ok to use a hair-up shot like this one for soaps or is it really, really important to show the hair? just wondering because I think my hair-up pics are more dramatic and might work well for the soap market. thanks!!

I NEVER allow my clients to put their hair up, for any purpose.

My reason for this is simple. It's impossible for a CD to tell how long your hair is or what condition it's in when you pin it up (that's why so many women put their hair up or hide it in a scarf-- either it's a mess or they don't know what to do with it).

On rare occasions (such as a special look for a formal occasion) you might want to go with this style, but 99.99% of the time, you'll want to wear it down.

If your agent is a psychic, wear it up. Otherwise, show them what you've got.

haha, thanks for the quick response! i think i'll go with this shot in that case (though I do prefer the hair up - just a personal preference but see why casting directors wouldn't love it).

p.s. for HARD submissions, don't worry, not doing the landscape for digital submissions.

I prefer the up do myself, compared to the second look.

It's more flattering for your facial shape.

What you need to do is re-think your entire hairstyle. This one isn't working for you.

I don't think the hair-up style is well done. Similar problem with the other style - it's a little messy or something. In the second picture, the curly side isn't bad but the straighter side looks artificially puffed out. It actually looks nice to me in a casual every day way, but not so professional.
