Hello Backstage messengers!

I came upon this site because I'm finally following my strong desire...I'm going to make it as an actress! That's positive speaking at its finest Smiler
I've been trying to make the most of my efforts and have recently taken some headshots...I don't know how to feel about them and would appreciate objective criticisms...you can't trust your family and friends. Which would one should stay on the island?
Thank you in advance

I really really am struck with how terrific the FIRST one is. (In Texas, L.A., New York, that's a good picture.) The other two look a little "posed", like they're actor-pictures. The first one has really good composition and great life and energy and looks like somebody I'd be happy to have around, especially in a work environment. (You might want to do a little retouching to reduce the line on your neck. It's not crucial. It's just a thought.) You could crop it a little, but go easy, the others are too tightly cropped... for my taste. It needs, of course, to be 8x10 proportion, so if you crop to a little above your hair at the top, and just below the button on your sweater on the bottom, you're good.

You look like (and sound like) a fun person. Enjoy the pursuit! (I'll even forgive you for misspelling that word. Wink )

since you are in Texas, i would go with the first one, but you should crop it on the top and at the very least, the right side. i'm sure others will agree, so i'll let someone who is more knowledgable explain what to do.

Broadway,
I knew something was wrong, uggg, I hate when I have a misspelling or when I repeat a word, you wanna tell people, "I know how to spell and read!!!" HAHAHAHA I am fun! Thank you for the critique. It's a roll, not a line, ha ha ha! Thank you so much,

Americangirl,

Thank you so much for responding! I feel like I can stop checking my email incessantly Smiler (Wiped forehead) So, for LA, you would suggest another caliber? Better outfit, better hair, different lighting, etc? I am SO open to suggestions and comments.

Thank you for your time

I revised my comment. In Texas, L.A., New York, Istanbul, that's a good head shot. (I sent you a Private Message regarding cropping and retouching.)

Great shot. I zoomed out a little on your crop, just because I prefer a look that's less "in your face." I'm not sure shy Picasa altered the coloring- I didn't ask it to.

Transfergirl,

Thank you so very much, I do appreciate it...I see that I'm going to have to invest in some good editing software, Picture Manager, will not cut it. You want agents to see your face, not be assaulted by it, HA!

Thank you, Suga

Okay, here's the deal. The first one has great energy and is definitely usable. SO kudos. As far as cropping, be sure your eyes are in the top third of the picture (or any in the future) as that is where they eyes of who views it will land first and it will have more of an impact. You don't want dead space above your head if you can help it.

Second of all, you absolutely, postively CANNOT use the other photos. The lighting is bad and inconsistent and they are cropped way too tight. They also don't give any idea of what your body type is and that's very important in this day and age.

Finally, you do have one very usable photo though (for the local market anyway), upon cropping it better and you look great so break a leg!!! Smiler

I think the energy and connection in the first one is enough to make it usable. I just wish your pose was a little less awkward; a light bit of PS work would help out the neck area.

No doubt I would call you in ... you seem delightful.

Good luck.
