I recently bought 'On the Technique of Acting' by Michael Chekhov. Any thoughts? Is it a good read for the beginning actor?

Thanks in advance!

Who told you about that book? What made you decide to pick up that particular book? May I make a suggestion here I would say that without any formal (acting)training. Reading books like those would only confuse you more. By that I mean once the book starts talking about sense memory, circumstances, 4th walls, different techniques etc... Unless you've taken a few classes or had a coach who worked on those topics with you. You'd never understand what it is that your reading. Trust me none of it will make sense to you. Get in a class or two for a while then we can converse on what books are good. The place where you bought that book from see if they have books that teaches you about the basic fundamentals of acting. That's what I would suggest if you want to read something. Hope that helps !!!
