My Acting coach is making us read Uta Hagen's "A Challenge for the Actor". Is this a good read? She also recommends reading the secret. True it helps?

People swear by The Secret. I don't buy all of it, but some of it is valuable.

I never read A Challenge For The Actor but I read her book Respect For Acting and it was good.

I also thought the secret was pretty good. I also don't buy all of it but it gives you a great way to look at life.

One thing to know about the Secret is that it throws around terms from physics, but when Nightline asked an actual physicist about the use of those terms, he said, basically, yes, those ideas exist in physics, but no they have nothing to with the concepts they're associated with in "The Secret". (When they asked someone associated with the book for a response, he said they'd asked the wrong physicist. Roll Eyes )

Otherwise, the general philosophy that "If you can think it, you can do it", etc. is hardly a new idea.
