Glenn Alterman is probably the most prolific monologue writer out there. I like the fact that he is continually writing new material and creating new books -- you'd be surprised just how fast printed acting material gets overdone (and overread) in casting offices! His stuff is available at The Drama Book Shop at 250 W. 40th Street. If you're searching for an acting book and it's still in print, you'll probably find it there. “Whatever works.” www.robertkim.comhttp://www.imdb.com/name/nm0453647

Glenn is also an acting coach and really knows the industry. You can also order his books through his site http://www.glennalterman.com/books.htm

quote: The local library will have several monologue books to choose from and they're free!!
Gosh, I guess that means you won't be buying either of my two books. It looks like the Baltimore Library System itself has slim pickings: 808.8245 M Monologues for actors of color men 2000 808.8245 M Monologues for actors of color women 2000 812 P Monologues for men 2005 808.8245 M Monologues for women by women 1994 808.8245 M Monologues for young actors 1994 792.028 M Monologues from literature 1990 808.8245 M Monologues in dialect for young actors 2002 But you might have better luck at the local college libraries, if they offer access. And some of those might have been selected by the acting departments.
