I read in a few of my acting books that doing print modeling is a great job for beginning actors, as it pays well and helps you get used to being in front of a camera. Has anyone ever done this before? If so, can you recommend any specific agencies/ studios? I applied at a few places last year but never heard back from them. I was thinking maybe it was my age? I was 26 when I applied, just turned 27 (though I can still pass for 20 easy). I'm 5'8" so I just barely make the height requirement for most of them. Maybe I need to lose weight? I wear a size 6 in jeans- I have a feeling they want someone who is a size 0-2. Any feedback would be much appreciated!
*Edit- I'll add some photos to help you get an idea of what I look like (they aren't professional, sorry):
PLEASE tell me you have professional shots. I am sure it said that in your acting books! What shots did you send in? Post those and we can help a little more.
BTW for nearly anything in Hollywood, being skinny is preferred and more marketable. You are too big for most mainstream acting right now. Not so much for non-union stuff etc but to be considered for paid and legitimate film/tv work, leaning up is a must. Low carb, high protein, cardio and some weight training. It is fun and you don't need to starve yourself. Do it over six months. I hate the rules too but I know how to play the game!!!
I don't know the print world or their needs so I won't comment there. But I do know a professional portfolio is a must.
You are sexy and striking so good luck to you.
"A woman, standing nude, looks in the bedroom mirror and says to her husband, "I feel horrible, I look fat and ugly. Pay me a compliment.? Her husband replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect." He never heard the shot."
