I've been bartending for a long time but I'm realizing I don't want to be supplementing my income at a bar when I'm in my 30s, and since middle class actors are virtually non-existent nowadays I'm realizing I may have to supplement for awhile, so I'm thinking about getting my license. I know some actors who do it and they say it's flexible, etc.

Anyone have any experience/input?

real estate is very difficult especially right now. I would suggest going into more of a development field like apartment complexes. I've worked for a development company for years and watched it grow very quickly. You get paid every month guaranteed and that's not something you'll find as a regular real estate agent.

if your in any kind of position to buy a place you could do that now and sell in a few years once the market evens out.

It depends where you live. My state is doing ok. There's a stage actor in my area that does real estate as a day job and donates part of his comission to a local theatre org.

Real Estate is difficult now, for sales, but not rentals. I am the hiring manager for Rapid Realty, Brooklyn's largest rental company. We are in the process of expanding and are in need of rental agents. We will pay for your tuition to real estate school and train you as a showing agents. We have a lot of actors who work here who enjoy the flexible schedule and who do very well because of their outgoing personalities. We also have an assembly line process in which everyone takes a role. All you do is show apartments and the rest of the team handles the deposit, closings, etc.
Please check out my website at http://www.rapidnyc.com/jobs.php, then call me at 718-369-1200 ext 136 for a tour and interview.

I have a part time job at a moving company, and the guy threw me real estate today. I had the big annual book, and got the Board's email addresses. Evidently the New York Board, on Lex Ave, is a big fat whig of a place, whatever, composed this letter to them all, plus all the shiny houses advertised in that book, like LLCs and Management firms. Speculating on the coming seismic shifts, connecting as being in the same business: 'relocation'.
