So I'm in the US on an O1 visa, from London. That means I am allowed to do any acting work, as I have been deemed an "alien of extraordinary ability". However, like just about every actor, extraordinary or not, I need to pay the bills! I'm having real problems with this, as my visa won't allow me to wait tables, work for Starbucks, work in a store, etc etc. Extra work is good option for me, but I live in Portland, Ore. at the moment and there are only a couple of projects filming here. I need to move to LA in order to earn more, but I need to earn more in order to move to LA! I can do a bit of babysitting, I suppose, and as I have a degree in writing someone recommended I put flyers up at the local universities to tutor ESL. Aside from these two things, does anyone have an idea of how I can possible support myself until I become the next Kate Winslet????

I'm also on an O1 from England, but my VISA application is worded so that I may work in any kind of "entertainment" field. So I've been able to find work in Movie Theatres, Universal Studios Theme Park, Blockbuster Video etc...

Any Six Flagish places near you? You might look into playing a character in one of those hourly shows, or maybe a busker, or depending on how desperate you are, you could wear a squirrel suit. hey, i don't know, I'm trying.
