What would be some of the safer and cheaper places in LA to live? I have heard WeHo and Burbank are good places to live and are safer but I really don't know as I have never been to LA. Another Question,Are the Assessment Tests for college hard? the math and english ones ?

1.) It is definitely NOT easier to take the bus than drive a car in LA. The public transportation here is unreliable, at best. If you can afford a car, get one.

2.) It is definitely not hard for a student to get a job in LA. I held down various jobs my entire 4 years in college. I would suggest waiting until you know your class schedule before seeking employment. You can start browsing Craigslist, but I wouldn't actually start applying for work 'til I arrived. People may find it frustrating that you can't come in for an interview, you know?

You don't TRY. You MUST get one.

Otherwise you are just another hamster spinning its wheels out here.

Then you rough it like the rest of us. Find lots and lots of roommates. Don't expect to have your own room or even your own parking spot. Also, hit up students who go to SA LA and see if any one is looking for a roomie. Do your research and some digging. LA is an EXPENSIVE place to live. Take it from one who came here with only savings...Keep in mind if you want this you've got to find a way to make it happen.

I learned how to catch the bus...even though I have a car. Sometimes especially when gas prices were super high I know how to get around. Look if you are in school you've got a bit of a buffer to get yourself settled. Enjoy that time. I came out originally as an out of state student doing an internship for my school back home. It was only 4 months but I used that time to get to know the city and make mistakes. Don't feel like you have to have it ALL planned out.

Yay lots to add...I was a student last year so I know how you feel. Getting a job depends on your school schedule. Remember there is no point in burning yourself out. My suggestion is to SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE before you come. Have something in your pocket, do not come here broke. Before I moved to do my internship I worked two jobs. I had enough to get me through the first three months after I graduated.

Look for a job yes it's nice to have a game plan. Be flexible. Know what you can do. Know what your strengths are. Know why you work...and remember your dreams. LA will put stars in your eyes. It's your job to take them out.
