ugh, 16? i retract as well! sorry guys...
but i don't know. for LEGAL ADULTS, why not put pole dancing on the special skills? i wouldn't put it on EVERY resume, maybe add it as a note for specific projects. i mean, it's been listed several times. diane, you're right, who would WANT to do that? but there are people who will. i will never forget the people who stripped in acting class my first month in college. some people just don't care.
as for BG work, considering it's the only freelance work not affected by the economy downfall, i'm pretty much relying on it to keep food on my table these days, so some of us are desperate. i am too shy to pole dance or strip, so i wouldn't do it, but if you have the skill who's to stop you?

Noone is stopping anyone and we can be in denial about this and try to be "modern and progessive" all we want but the fact remains that if you are getting naked on a set for background work- i.e. The girls that strip on "The Sopranos", it is NOT going to look favorably upon you as an artist. Yes, I know we need to survive, we are not all sluts, there is nothing wrong with it, don't judge- blah blah blah. But the rules of society and the biz are just like that and while I might not like them, I can't change them and I learn to play the game. Those girls on "The Sopranos" are not advancing anywhere artistic and good anywhere soon- unless they can apply other skills very well, know what I mean?? And if you are running around naked in front of those men on that set who ALREADY think little enough of you, do not be surprised when you get hit up for certain things. Simple.

No, I am not considering this right now. But I am considering this when I leave to Hollywood for income to support myself. I read that this is a good occupation in a book about to make it into Hollywood, which seem legit because it had agents and casting directors in it. I can separate myself from the whole disturbing aspect of the stripping career, and focus on myself just making in the cash. I didn't mean to disturb anyone. I was just curious if this would harm my career in any form. I guess it will so I won't consider it anymore. But I seen successful actors and singers done something in this line, but much worse like Madonna and Marilyn Monroe. However I forgot about the cameras, and phones, so I don't think I will do this in my future.

That is really disturbing to me and where are your parents!!! Dear GOD you have choices, youth on your side. What inspired you to ask about stripping? Is that your plan when you are older because if so, that is totally unnecessary. You could work and start saving now and move to LA at 21 with a ton of cash to help you survive. YOU CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT!!! God, that post saddens me. You are so young. Enjoy your youth, your innocence, your vitality, my dear as it is a cherished and precious gift and once you lose it, you will lose your soul. I have lived in Las Vegas. I have seen it all and it breaks my heart what young girls resort to. It really does. I would kill to be 16 again. I know I would not mess it up if, Sweet Jesus- I could JUST DO IT ALL AGAIN!!!! I don't ever want you thinking about stripping ever again as I do not need to know you to know you are better than that. It is NOT for 16 year old girls to be thinking about.
How would you do it again? I am so worried about the financial side of Hollywood, and I need to plan in how to make it big before I am too old, and by big I mean a common household name. Hmmm, I am just considering all the possibilities there are. I wasn't thinking I would lose my soul in the future, because it will be all an act, and all an illusion to do it. I wouldn't go beyond that, then it will be too much and not worth it at all. But I am not considering it anymore because by reading the posts I see it will affect my acting career horribly.

You are 16. For now, stay in school, study hard and go to college. Buckle down, work hard and save your money. Discipline yourself to not lead a financially extravagant lifestyle and save your money HARD. I repeat- you are 16. And this household name crap? Noone should enter this business based solely on the ideal of becoming a "star". It is shallow, unrealistic and truly shows a person's true character. You should want to act from passion, from fire, from a desire to be great at something, not from a desire to be like Britney Spears.

I do have a desire to have the fame of Britney Spears, but I want even more than that type of fame. I want legacy like Marilyn Monroe, or the longevity of Madonna. There is no shame in wishing and hoping, but I do not want to be forgotten. If I am going to take such a career, when I could easily be successful as a doctor than why not get it all? I have a deep passion for fame, and I am going to change the world for the better. I want to change this world, and I want to make a difference in millions of peoples lives. I want to inspire them when they are depress through my movies, and I want to bring joy to the crying women out there. I do not want to be that one supporting actress in those few mediocre films, after years of one or two line scripts and being an extra. No, I deserve better, and I deserve great scripts. My name will get on the top of the movie, and I will not be unheard. Why should I waste my youth in just doing it because I want to act? Which I do, and I would love acting. If I wanted to do that than why not local theater, with a good job on the side?

heh, I kind of like you, because you're so young and you remind me of myself. A few things that you should know that I wish I heard at 16. 1) People like Marilyn Monroe/Paul Newman/etc are one in a BILLION. And those actresses who get those "mediocre" roles... they are one in a million. That's how difficult it is, and that's how rare success is. 2) Your young. Very young. *I'm* young for that matter. But I can tell you that between your age and mine (which isn't that much) there is a whole world of pain that you never thought existed if you attempt to make this climb to the top. A lot of people get a taste of it, and decide it's not for them. And there is no shame in that at all. 3) At then end of the day, the drive to be famous isn't going to be enough to carry you forward. Inspiring people, changing the world, etc - that's the stuff you should be focusing on. That's the stuff that'll get you through difficult times. 4) Don't be a stripper. Women in this industry are sexually exploited enough as it is...

quote: Originally posted by miss stone: Well, let's see now. It's common knowledge that Madonna slept her way to fame. In fact the running joke in the early 80's was "What's the difference between a 747 and Madonna? Answer- not everyone's been in a 747." And Marilyn Monroe enjoyed a LOT of fame by becoming a ho-hum actress and sleeping with the very married Robert Kennedy (president) and eventually burned out, I believe from drugs. So, some terrific role models you chose there. Seriously, where are your parents? You wanna be the next Anna Nicole? Your whole post smacks of naivety and total lack of judgement and the way things work and what these people are really about. You need to wake up and you need to do it NOW. Fame is a pathetic and unrealistic driving force and if you are that desperate for it and only that, it disturbs me what you really would do for it. Having some values and respect for the art and working hard the right way is how to make a difference. We do NOT NEED any more Britney's, Anna Nicole's, Nicole Richie's etc. You know what a mess those people are? Jesus.... WHERE ARE YOUR PARENTS???????
I have all the respect in the world for Anna Nicole, she was depress because of her son's death, and she had a trouble past. Her life was tragic. No one knows Marilyn's death either, and she had a disturbing childhood so I respect her for becoming an icon of the century, and Madonna she is a role model for me because she went to become a star regardless of her parents telling her not too, and having great grades. If she did not did what she had to do then i do not think we would have a Madonna today. She is a one true self-worker and she set goals for herself, and look at her now, worth millions and having a great career in singer still to this day. Who cares what she done, she done it, she said it herself "So what" in 1985 concert. I don't think I will be the next Britney or Nicole Ritchey, and I will be myself. I only have two rolemodels and they are Bette Davis, and Madonna. Fame is a driving force of millions, and some succeed it while others do not, and I do not plan to be the ones who do not. I will achieve, since with fame comes fortune. I do not want to get mean or anything, but you sound bitter as if your time for fame has ran out... and perhaps it did, but it is not a pathetic driving force. No matter how you get there, you will get there, if fame is the force than so be it. I am determined to make it. Do not worry I am not considering stripping anymore. I am just saying that they are my rolemodels, and I want fame. No big deal anymore.
