Could this do harm to your career? And can someone easily find out if you done this?

Interesting question.

Dancing For Dollars is a legal occupation. Strippers pay taxes just like everyone else. It certainly wouldn't help your career. But on the other hand, unless casting directors begin to frequent Scores on a regular basis, I don't see that it would harm your career, either.

(Just don't list "pole dancing" under Special Skills on your resume)

You have tasteful strippers and you have the UNCLE LUKE strippers. lol !! They usually find out about people's past once they've become a success. Then friends come out of the blue with the I knew him/her be when they use to do so and so. Nobody's secrets are safe anymore. Once you become a public figure everyone will come out with their story version of you. Because they think that it will either make them famous, or they're looking to score a payday. It's disgusting !! But that's the power of money ! But I don't see it harming your career. Look at Eve- rapper turned actress she used to strip at one time. Although I never saw her strip I knew of the club. I remember walking pass the club a long time ago. wink wink !! lol ! But serious there's nothing really to worry about. Long as your not in the champange room !

well, hehe there are currently two notices looking for strippers/exotic dancers on NYCasting for major studio projects (BG work). the whole deal, pasties, g-strings, all of it (or none of it, depending on how you look at it! haha) and what about "Sopranos" or "Californication"??

so, while i wouldn't admit to being a WORKING stripper, having that particular skill set could be useful.

one of the hottest workout trends in NYC now is pole dancing. never done it, but apparently, it's an amazing workout and normal people are doing it all the time. potentially, you could hide the fact that you do it by taking one of these classes at a well-known legit gym (not some skeevy place, but a well-known gym or school) and then you can add it to your special skills. yea, you'll get a few looks, so maybe you should be selective in which resumes you include it on, but why not? it's a needed skill!

incidentally, i did a theme park show several years ago and one of our cast members was a professional stripper. she would work our family show during the daytimes, then leave and strip all night. i know she was making bank, but i think she bragged a bit too much, and showed up way tired and off her game (and without a decent singing voice since she was so hoarse), and management found out. she was warned to either quit stripping or quit this job.

but i think she was given the warning because she would work our job from like, 2pm-9pm, then work her second job from 10pm-5am, and would barely get any sleep and shoed up hoarse (and maybe a tad hung over?). i dont think they were against her "money job", just against the repercussions of having two jobs.

By all means do it but NEVER tell a soul. It will go against you. Period. Hollywood is still essentially a men's club and women are still very much judged on their actions more than men. If it ever comes back to haunt you, just remember one simple rule and you will be fine- "DENY DENY DENY".

I just read another one of your posts and read that you are SIXTEEN!!!!! RETRACT what I said!!! Why are you asking about stripping at SIXTEEN sweetie????? That is really disturbing to me and where are your parents!!! Dear GOD you have choices, youth on your side. What inspired you to ask about stripping? Is that your plan when you are older because if so, that is totally unnecessary. You could work and start saving now and move to LA at 21 with a ton of cash to help you survive. YOU CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT!!! God, that post saddens me. You are so young. Enjoy your youth, your innocence, your vitality, my dear as it is a cherished and precious gift and once you lose it, you will lose your soul. I have lived in Las Vegas. I have seen it all and it breaks my heart what young girls resort to. It really does. I would kill to be 16 again. I know I would not mess it up if, Sweet Jesus- I could JUST DO IT ALL AGAIN!!!! I don't ever want you thinking about stripping ever again as I do not need to know you to know you are better than that. It is NOT for 16 year old girls to be thinking about. Frowner Eeker

If you're considering being a stripper at 16, you're going to have a hard life. Ever thought about finishing high school, going to college, etc????

I don't have any respect at all for women who 'strip' for a living. I don't care if it's at Scores or Joe's Live XXX Show..... there is NO SUCH THING as a "high class" strip joint or even a "gentlemen's club".... It's all about the sleaze factor --- grown men oogling at some skank who's writhing around a pole or rubbing themselves all over some guy (lap dance) for a few dollars.

I hate the stories some of these skanks tell "oh, I'm a single mother" or "I couldn't find a job" or some other lame excuse.... It's a disgrace, it's disgusting, and it is nothing to be proud of.

As for it being harmful to your career?? You bet your g-string it will!! In this day of cell phone cameras, cell phone videos, etc, you can best believe those pics and video WILL show up if you become even remotely successful.

PS: I just saw your other post about wanting to stay looking young..... nothing will age you like being a stripper... You will lose your looks and be a 'has been' long before you're 27.

And I wish I knew who/where she is so I could notify her parents. Her post is VERY scary.... I shudder to think of the danger she can put herself in.

If you list "pole dancing" under "Special Skills" on your resume, they're immediately going to think "stripper". They're not going to say "oh, maybe she's taking pole dancing lessons in a high class gym"

Also, any castings for 'exotic' dancers (aka:strippers) is typically for background work (aside from Striptease or Showgirls, how many plot lines do you know where a stripper is a principal in the movie/show???) and you're only going to get paid $75-$125 to prance around nude/semi-nude with all the crew, etc looking on.

I don't know of anyone THAT desperate for background work!

Oh, come one Diane. I am sure many successful porn actresses got their start SOMEHOW, right? Roll Eyes Or maybe they got to blow the director and he made them his FIFTH wife!!!
