Unfortunately you never know what agencies are really looking for. If people in the industry are saying one look is in then I'm sure they get flooded with submissions of that look. My dd is told she has a great look and she gets put on hold a lot and even booked sometimes, but then gets released. so you never know if there's a few other kids that look similar to yours who have just something a little different.

I'd would recommend resubmitting in a few months and dont get discouraged. Good Luck!

Just keep in mind the business is not for everyone. He might not like it ,or you might not. I sometimes can't figure out how they pick one child over the others anyway, even if it is my daughter ,on some go-sees I've thought that really every child there was pretty enough that they could use anyone of them. You can always try again, or just move on to something else.

Maybe you are sending the wrong photos....get people's opinions of the photos before re-submitting...maybe that will make the difference

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that just because their child is very pretty, they should be a model. In reality, it's the average looking kids that book most of the jobs. Being too pretty can work against a child model. Clients want to showcase the product not the kid. My dd is considered extremely pretty and she never booked as many jobs as my DS who is average looking.

There are hundreds of "ethnic" kids submitting. In our experience it is the ones with the light eyes that have an easier time.

I would for sure have someone look at the photos you are sending and reshoot and try again. Needs change daily.

I agree with Brandondad. Maybe try submitting different pictures. You can also try submitting to managers if you are not having any luck with agents. Since your son is still so young though maybe just wait a few months and try submitting again. Good luck and keep trying!

Big hair, curly hair, light eyes, piercing eyes...that seems to be what's getting signed now. kind of the mixed kids or ethnic look

You just never know what agents are looking for. In a forum where everyone seems to have an agent it might seem like all you do is send in your picture and they call you in and sign you but that is the furthest thing from the truth. Some agencies are closing, the economy is in trouble and agents are looking for very specific types. If everyone who sent in a picture got called in there would be 1000+ kids at every go-see instead of the 1 to 2 hundred that are sometimes there already. I'm sure your son is just as cute as many of the kids who are already signed but it can be so many different reasons like they already have enough of his type etc. Just keep submitting different pics every 6 months. This business has a very high turnover rate.

Brandons dad you are absolutely correct. I too have taken my daughter to go sees and the sign said not pretty model type just "average". So being very cute or pretty can and does work against you sometimes. Also remember some agencies don't accept more kids when they have enough of a particular look/age/size group. So even though you say your child is so cute maybe they have enough of that look.

I remember taking my daughter to a ralph lauren casting she didn't get it but a few months later I we saw a little girl in a ralph lauren ad and she could have been mistaken for my daughter that's how much they looked alike.....so you just never know what the other "cute" kid had that was the "it" factor.

Not sure how far you are from NY but many agents will not sign kids who live more than an hour away.

we're about two hours away from nyc we're getting new pics done by a headshot photographer in september.

my son is cute i wouldnt say he is extra cute or anything like that. he doesnt have curly hair or light eyes he has your average brown hair and eyes he is lighter skinned i dont see many lighter skinned AA boys modeling maybe that plays into it as well.

We will keep at it submit to some managers. Someone will pick him up sooner or later.

Thank you all for your input and advice

I am not on the East Coast or in NY so really what do I know, but from what I have been reading on this board for the last year or so, your 2 hour distance from NYC certainly could be the reason. Are there any agencies in your city, or closer to your city? You may be pleasantly surprised at the opportunity in your area.
