Has anyone had success with school absences not accessed against your child's record because you've provided set teacher documentation? Any other ways?

Hello ridgerunner..I was worried about this also..so what I did was called and spoke with the principle..and asked him if this will go against my dd since in her school they are only able to miss 10 days. Her principle said when ever she has to leave due to acting/modeling to e-mail him directly and he will make not of it so it is not counted against her. He did also mention that she should be making up any school work missed tough so what we do is ask the teacher to send it home and she does it in the car on the way to an audition.

Hi Ridgerunner - yes, like Shayla says, it's best to have a clear understanding between you, your child, your school's principal and child's teacher as to how many days of school your child may be missing, how the work can be provided to you beforehand, and how the work can be completed. Try to have a sit down meeting before your child's project starts so they know that school and school work is very important to you and your child.

If it's a longer term project, make sure that weekly updates are given to your child's teacher either from the set tutor or you or both.

I try to keep my children's teachers and principal always in the loop of any last minute scheduling changes as soon as I can and have a quick chat with their teachers at the end of each week.

Because I'm in constant communication with my children's principal and teachers, they can see from our efforts that school is still a top priority for us and they do not count my children's absences against them.

Good luck and congratulations to your DD/DS!!!

yes. If your child has a set teacher he/she should be counted as in school.
