Al Pacino

She's in class. An experienced actor gets to know excellent plays by doing them. But it's perfectly natural for a student to ask for help. As I've said before, I read really fast. But I find it very frustrating going through plays looking for material. The fact is, most of us just don't go to see plays or otherwise get exposed to them the way people used to be. So saying that actors, especially new actors, "should" be able to find material on their own is effectively telling them they should be experts at library science as well as acting. There's a wide difference between the skills needed to do research and the skills needed to act. So yes, ActinGirl, go to libraries and/or Samuel French and look through numerous plays. But by all means ask for help as well.
