Hi Everyone,

I was interested in Baron Brown's auditioning/cold reading class for on-camera. Anyone taken it? Thoughts?

It meets once a week. Only downside is that I heard the class has a lot of students... THANKS!

Barron/Brown is one of the best Scene Study classes. Faithlove is currently taking it. Ask her.

Also, check out D.W. Brown's new book.

As far as a coldreading/auditioning class. I swear by Margie Haber studios. Barron/Brown is better known for Scene Study.

Let me tell you a story. Baron Brown will do anything and everything to make you believe they are the best acting school in LA. A friend of mine wanted to leave because it's not a good school...the owner called him and asked where he was planning on going and after he explained where, the owner berated him.

They also hire students to teach. Do you think a 2 year Meisner program graduate would be worth learning from? I would prefer someone a bit more established in both the craft and application of technique in the "real world."

I'm a student and nearly done. The school has awful policies. You have to pay $45 to make up for each class missed regardless of the reason for missing the class even if it is work related. The training is okay. Any kind of training is beneficial even at the surface, it is up to the student to take it to whatever level they desire. I feel that I could do better with another school. I might have opted to go to E Mestnik studio instead I think.

Thank you all for your replies! Right now I'm definitely NOT interested in scene study. Their AUDITIONING class is taught by a former producer/casting person. I don't know if she is also a former student or not...

Also Margie Haber's classes are really expensive.

If anyone else wants to chime in, especially on this one class of theirs... I'd appreciate it. THANKS!! Smiler

And Barron/Brown is not? Margie Haber Studios have been the only classes so far where I've spent a lot but left knowing that it was worth it.

Barron/Brown is a scene study school.

I really wanted to like Barron Brown Stdio. However there is no Audit.
You do not get a chance to work with Barron or Brown unless you are in the Master Class. I really wanted to audit a course to see how these other instructors were since I would not be working with either Barron or Brown. Upon asking questions to the manager of the school - - the instructor I would have is new and has been teaching only 2 years. I am not impressed by that and at a minimum need to audit the course to get more confidence in his skills and that of the school.
