Jason, after reading this post, I uh, well, I'll take my foot outta my mouth for a moment. I now see where you are coming from in a more crystal clear point of view. And, I can honestly say, I agree with everything! My name is Nick Scott. I don't have a personal webpage to show my bio. I'm sure you've got amazing credentials. It just seemed you were looking down at other methods, but it came clear to me that you piece together these methods as they were "incomplete". I am eager to take some classes with you! Unfortuately, I live a good 10 hours' drive south of you. I may be moving to NYC this time next year though! I've really read some wonderful things from you. In fact, you've been the most informative person on this site in terms of the craft of acting. I give you madd kudo's for that. I didn't want to come off as disrespectful, just a little concerned I guess. I know what you mean about teachers not caring about the process the students need to go through. Like I said before, I think everyone who has spent time in this world has a little nugget of gold to give to others. It seems like I've hit fort knox when I speak to you. I can see taking classes with you, and having further discussions with you about the craft will not only deepen my own understanding of the life i live in art, but also help me gain even a deeper appreciation for it as well. For that, I truly thank you. I look forward to future discussions!
Nick Scott

Yep. It is kinda true, but why then Casting Directors are looking at the part Training on our resume? I guess just for fun?
Plus everybody can act all right, but are those everybody know drama structure or can they do homework to build a character? In real life people are boring and only good cutting can help. And for sure you can find a director who has unlimited resourses and all time in the world and tons of film to film everything Smiler And yep you have to marry your scene partner and adopt your on screen children, all of them! Eeker

hmmmm... Lets see what I director would say after they look at your resume and you have no formal training. There is not much more to say, except I think you made yourself look like a fool

p.s. Acting is a wonderful craft that is not always about "making gmillions"

As I've stated earlier, there are two sides of acting: business + art. The topic is "NOBODY CAN TEACH YOU ACTING". With a headline like that, it leads me (initially) to gravitate (man, I use that word a lot in here) towards the "art" side of it. Its the craft of acting. And yes, it needs nurturing. It needs to grow. You can be very talented from the get-go, but talent will only take you so far. You need to develop the concentration of an actor. You need to be able to move as the character, and not like your everyday self. You need to learn the fundamentals of stage presence, and character development. Yes, you need training, no matter what stage you are in with this business. As far as the "craft" of acting, it will need constant honing, sharpening, rethinking.
Now, as far as the business goes, there's more education needed than meets the eye. This biz is so unforgiving that people commit suicide over it. People succumb to the pressures of the entertainment industry in ways unimaginable to most other professions (except dentists and stockbrokers, hehe). We read about it everyday, about how people's lives are ruined by this biz. In order to navigate yourself through this world, having taken classes about marketing yourself will be so beneficial, not only when it comes to not getting scammed, but you'd be informed of how to save time, as well as money. So, overall, one can only GAIN from taking classes in both realms of the acting world.
Yes, there are bad teachers, and places where you will lose out on great knowledge, thats why its always important to do research on what and where's best for your learning.
