I often thought about taking classes to learn how to speak like the English. I've always admire there accents. I was just wondering what accents/languages have some of you learn just to learn, or had to learn for a character ina play, movie, or tv series ? Not to mention it's something to put on your resume.

Have you ever seen resumes where the actor listed a dozen accents?

And have you noticed that they often can't do ANY of them very well?

The old adage, "Quality, not quantity" bodes well here. Better to list fewer, and do them exceptionally well.

In fact, better to not list ANY than to do them poorly.

RKP your absolutely right. I agree with I guess that's why after all these years I have yet carry on that thought. SmilerI do have friends that have multiple accents on there reason. Maybe one or two is okay, but soem have 5-6 different accents on their resume. Would like to hear what others have to say about this.

I think if you have played a role that required an accent, then you can put it on your resume. Otherwise you perhaps slipped into it after listening to tapes and working on a monologue, but you didn't meld with the character like in a production. I worked with an Irish guy last month for an audition, and thought I had the accent. It went away, or was in and out in my monologue, and I was happy it wasn't represented on the resume...
