I am from Australia and am looking into studying at the Lee Strasberg Insitute and I was wondering if anyone who has been there can tell what they think of it. Also is there any difference between the New York & LA Institute..?

The Strasberg in LA is a money-grubbing joke, trust me. I was deciding between it and Stella Adler and have tried BOTH. Stella Adler is far superior and structured and makes very little money off of actors. Strasberg is purely for people to get a visa but hey, whatever floats your boat. Used to be good and now survives on the reputation of its previous credibility. I experienced teachers coming in drunk and many are so old they have these little "assistants" who are actually students themselves and they actually run half the class instead of the teachers!!!!If you are too old to teach, retire!!!But don't take my money and put me in the hands of a student! This is a first-hand account. Audit both places and you will quickly see.....

I was scared that might be the case, I have been saving for ages to styudy full time so to waste my money would be a crime. I don't need the school for a VISA I just want to go to one of the best schools over there to learn the most I can.
In your opinion what is the best school??
Thanks x

I don't know how old you are or anything but you can always get involved in a college program studying theatre. That's what i'm doing. Just be proactive. I can't speak on lee strasburg or stella adler but i do know that they are both very expensive schools.

Stella Adler. Hands down. And it is NOT very expensive. No more than any other school. The technique class you would start with is $800 for twelve weeks- at four hours a week. You will become amazing. I really swear by my school. They are thorough, attentive and really take their time. It is the imagination technique they use. They help you work your imagination like a muscle. You really research the character and put yourself in the same mindset of that character so that every action you do, every thing you say comes from that place and the idea is that you FEEL everything and act nothing out so the end result is very organic and natural. I can honestly say I am becoming an excellent actor. Took nearly two years but it is a process which cannot be rushed. I am due to continue there next month. Love it....Oh, and if you call Strasberg, they will let you know you cannot take just one class. It is MANDATORY to take two acting classes. It is their policy. So, $1600 straight off the bat, just for the acting classes. This is first-hand experience. Feel free to PM me if you would like anymore info. I am happy to help. Good luck.
