Hi there, please give me recommendations for a good commercial auditioning class by someone you have gone to in Los Angeles. I know most classes start the week of July 7th and I need to find someone soon during the summer break. Please list any that you have personally gone to.

Try Sandra Merrill's. Her classes are good. I have taken them.

My favorite commercial class is Hey, I Saw Your Commercial! taught by Mike Pointer, a working commercial actor.

I've taken two of the top ranked commercial classes in L.A. One was taught by a working commercial actor and the other was taught by an experienced casting director. I thought it was limiting when taught by a casting director because it was more what that specific casting director liked as opposed to what every casting director in general likes. In the class taught by an actively working commercial actor, I liked it better because he taught a more global approach that appeals to casting directors as a whole instead of one casting director's view. This commercial actor had been in a lot of commercials for years and still works.

Hello!

If you are union, try the SAG Conservatory next time. They use great teachers and the workshops are dinamic and powerfull.

The commercial workshop I took, had the following format:

-You prepare a regular audition (no lines)
-They put it on tape.
-They show it and coment about it
-You do it a second time following the notes.
-They show it again.

It is very effective.
Good Luck

I noticed this was posted in June, but I wanted to add to it in case anyone else might be interested.

Here are some more reputable suggestions in ABC order. All these classes include commercial audition techniques.
