Practice in front of a mirror or camera and read from either the Wall Street Journal or Economist. Everything else seems easier after reading one of those publications.

Haha! I don't doubt that at all, but what if the cold reading is for Shakespeare? That happens to be my personal journey right now. I was called back for Macbeth, the play, not the character, but still.

well u shouldnt have to COLD read shakespeare, you can read the whole play for free online, you should be familar with it, and very familar with the parts you'd likely be called back for.

We have call backs. We are given sides ahead of time. We know what parts we are called back for, we have some of the script to study. Now, what advice do you have when it consists of reading from the script?
I have heard to make choices. It doesn't matter if it's anything incredible, just so long as make specific choices.

Be a good reader of ANYTHING for starters. By that I mean I read so much as a kid that I can glance through a page in seconds and be good to go. Where as there are people out there that are so crappy at reading they CANNOT cold read effectively as - they - have - to - stare - hard - at - the - page - to - read - the - words - and - cannot - glance - up -and - therefore - read - too - slowly. I have seen it MANY times. READ READ READ all the time- you never know, you might learn something too. That's a joke. Of COURSE you will learn something. Smarter actors can be better actors, you know. I am going to go read now. The internet is draining my brain. I can just feel it.
