I recently did an audition saturday and I am relatively new to all this and want to see if what i did was right. I got a side for a character that is supposed to be a former druggy now living a straight life as a bounty hunter with his father (psychological horror). When i got the sides I read through it and noticed some slang that i took as southern, and went even further to pull up several articles/radio/interviews with real life bounty hunters to get a good feel for how they talk, look, and dress. I took this and molded myself to speak in these terms and did the audition in a deep texan sounding voice. I am good with accents so i'm not worried about that, but i just wondered if that maybe was to presumptious and should have just done it straight or do directors notice when someone has taken initiative like this?
