Hi JB

A little about myself: I live in Sydney, Australia and I'm currently learning the Meisner technique. It's great and I owe the school and the technique so much, but I find that there are certain problems with it, or perhaps certain problems with me that the technique doesn't address.

I'm passionate about acting, I've given up my "initial career" and am now working for peanuts in order to focus on my acting and train myself in the craft that I love.

That passion (and a certain amount of personal frustration) has brought me to this board. After reading a lot of threads here, I've become intrigued by archetypal work. Something about it just strikes me as 'true', at least for myself as an actor and my own personal needs. I've absorbed, every valuable piece of insight that the people who post here have to offer, but I'm still looking for what will work for me and fit me.

Taking on your suggestions in older posts, I'm currently reading 'Embracing Your Selves" and starting work with a Voice Dialogue facilitator next week. This book is fascinating! It's exciting and frightening and also strangely relieving.

I understand that it's only an influence on the work that you teach, though I'm starting to get a sense of where that work might end up leading to.

I know you say you need to experience Archetypal work to know what it is like, and I couldn't agree more. The same must be said of any acting technique. Unfortunately, my options are limited.

I can't come to the states to study, since my family needs me here and I simply don't have the funds to do so.

So, at the very least I'm asking for some strong direction and advice from you on my acting path.

At the very most, for a sort of on-line correspondence and tutoring. I realise that you are extremely busy...but I am a quick learner and bright and a dedicated worker. I'm confident that I can fill in the gaps. Perhaps you could assign another teacher or a senior student in the school the task of mentoring me?

I honestly believe that even a handicapped version of what your method offers will benefit me more than nothing at all.

I also don't believe in taking your services for nothing in return. While my current circumstances won't allow me to travel to NY to participate, I'll work as much as I can to cover what you believe to be a reasonable price for these 'lessons' and ongoing online tutelage.

I've seen your passion for the craft and your (obvious) desire to help others excel in it and that's what I'm appealing to now. Wink

Looking forward to your response!

Sincerely,
Max

Whooops. How embarrassing! Never posting late night again...

Jason, I hope you accept my apology. And thankyou Morgin, for pointing out my mistake!
