I wish I had applied to the Neighborhood Playhouse in January, missed out on that for this fall. It looks amazing and I'm taking liberal arts courses at New School but it's not the same as an acting school so I'm super bummed.
I guess there are a few rolling classes like Matthew Corozine? Beverly Hills Playhouse also has classes by the month but I heard the enrollment is going up to 30 to 50, that's way too many for me.
For a while I paid for my own studio classes and worked, I now realize it's much easier to study under a degree and use low-interest federal loans, isn't it?
My life is always compromises or last minute nightmares, I'm just really bummed about going to the New School, I'm in the liberal arts/general studies school so can't sign up for most dance or theater classes which I'm dying to do. Ideally I'd rather do the 2 year Meisner program and have a coach, but isn't it better to be under a degree so you can take out federal low interest loans? Rutgers has the 2 year Meisner technique, but I'm stuck in New York in a sunless shoebox that I hate, after wanting to live in the city for so long, and having lived here for 5+ years, I'm dying to leave, and will. What a rambling ungrounded mess I am!!!
I guess my question is are there any schools in New York where you enroll in last minute in New York or which schools have drop-in classes? HB Studio maybe? I wish I had been under a degree to do financial aid, plus I'm moving to LA, but don't know when. I don't feel so keen on academics right now, I feel like dance and theater.
What do you think about paying for theater classes under the umbrella of a university degree, and taking out federal loans that are low interest, isn't that better than taking studio prices on your own?
